I have a friend who has a cell phone. When I called them recently the ring was not the ordinary ring you hear when you call a person. It was an actual song playing. Now I intially thought it was their voicemail picking right up so I kept hanging up but I soon found out it was their ring. How do you do that? :confused:

Yep, it's called the "Ringback Service". New to the US but has been in Europe and Asia for the last 6-9 months. I think we will see it boom here in the US in 2005.
I personally find it a bit annoying, but since it is a feature that each phone company has to implement on thier end, it will be a good source of revenue for them and as such will probably be crammed down our throats as the next cool thing. :rolleyes:

yea my friend on tmobile has it too, its xibit talking, its pretty annoying. i was in the same boat as you. i thought it was his voice mail so i called lik 4 times. lol. now things are getting TOO customized. i really hope that this goes away, although i KNOW it wont. haha

That is insane! I want it, LOL... only bad part is that there really would be no way to circumvent the system and get cheap ringbacks... you pretty much have to buy and use theirs from what I can imagine.
