I've been using itunes to convert my files to acc format but now my trimmer won't work on them. It will only trim mp3's. Anyone know of a trimmer that will work on acc format?

No need to use another program, iTunes will trim your MP3s or AAC files and export them for your phone pretty easily. Lucky for you I'm bored at work and took some screenshots... hope it helps.

1 Start by selecting the original clip you want to use as a ringer and then play it. Use the play head in the top center of the window to note when the part of the song you want as a ringer starts and stops.
2 Now, right-click (or control-click on a Mac) on the song listed in your library and choose Get Info. In the window that appears, choose the Options tab, then set the Start Time and Stop Time.

3 Now you are ready to export the file as an AAC for your phone. I don't have an AAC compatible phone, so you may need to play with these settings a bit or search the forum for more info on this step. Choose Edit > Preferences and click the Import tab. Whatever you set here is what iTunes will use to import songs from CD or to convert songs.

4 Go back to your file in the main window and right-click it to choose Convert to AAC. This will make a new file which you can click on and drag to the desktop and then send to your phone using whatever method you know of.
IMPORTANT:
If you listen to this file as a normal song on your computer, go back and remove the Start Time and Stop Time settings in the Get Info panel.
Also remember to go back and fix your Import settings in Prefs if you plan to bring in your songs from CD ... you won't want them at low quality mono!

Hey man, thanks so much. This is the easiest way yet. Now I don't need all those other conversion and trim programs. This Itunes is pretty cool, got it with an ipod, but it doesn't really tell you how to do much. Just have to play around I guess. Thanks again, you've saved me a tone of time.

What are you using to upload. I use Kivers and keep mine under 30 seconds. I haven't had a problem. I couldn't stand using 32 bit rate. I use 112 and use the mono mode. It keeps them around 200 bytes.

Weird, the screenshots I took aren't showing up now... don't know if the problem is with ImageShack or the forums, sorry!

Based on my limited testing, I think you'll get smaller better quality AAC files using Nero's aac plugin. AFAIK, iTunes does not do VBR. I know, it's just a ringer, but whether you want a better sounding ringer or a smaller size, VBR will help.
That said, Neros AAC encoder is not free....it has 50 free encodes...I have no idea what it costs after that....I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

Where did you get the songs?
I had the same problem when I was trying to download clips from Walmart.com's site. After trying different things, I just decides to use Ares to download the songs I was looking for and it worked like a charm.
