I just found out my contract expired last month so I gave customer solutions a call last night. whined a little, threatened to look at other providers, and of course, i was sent to retention. the guy i talked to was pretty nice and i negotiated with him into the $40 for 1000 mins deal. my original plan was 2 phones with 2000 mins at 115 after everything was added(vision, picturemail, etc), so he split up the mins between the 2 phones(1000 each). i need vision, and he said that it wasn't included in that deal. i pushed a little more, and he said that he'd try to work out a good plan for me and call me today. i know that's a pretty good deal, it'll probably save me about 40 bucks after taxes :)

now, i've been with them for 2-3 years. i have a treo600 and my wife has a vga1000. i've been eyeing that 650, but i'm sure that they're not gonna give that to me, hehe. however, it does seem reasonable for them to be able to upgrade my wife's phone. i've looked around at other posts, and seem to only find that people are getting good plans. can retention send out a new phone as well? or am i qualified for any discounts or rebated for phones since i'm out of contract? i know i'm not qualified for the 18 month thing since i just got my treo upgraded from the 300 this summer and my wife has had her phone replaced recently with a refirb. any help would be great!

thanks!

oh, and if anyone is interested, when trying to figure out how to get my to sign another contract, he also offered me an extra line and phone for free on our current plan. he said it was a nokia, can't remember which model. from the description i remember, i think it was the PM 6225 since it had voice dialing. just wanted to let you know in case you were looking to add a line.

No, they can't send you a phone unless you add a line. Here's my thoughts:

Unless your wife has had her phone 24 months now (not 18) then she's not getting the $150, plain and simple. What you should do is see how low he can get the treo by adding a line (should be down to 350).

If you take that route, go to the store, not CS and get the 650 for $350 by adding a line with a new number for zero (if the store has access to a zero dollar sub on that 1000 minute plan). Leave it for a day after activation and go back in a swap your 600 to the new phone number and the 650 to your existing number.
