I'm pretty sure the charging pin in my 4050 is broken--the phone won't charge when the standard charger is plugged into it (I tried using my roommate's too, and that one didn't work either). Is there a charger for this phone that can charge the phone via the flat data-cable slot next to the regular charging pin?

Did you have to take the phone back to the place where you bought it, or could you just get a new one at the sprint store? And what did they do about your contacts when they switched the phone?

I bought my phone at sprint and it was under warranty so they were going to give of a new one right then but they did not have any in stock so they had to order one.. And when it arrived they said they would transfer my phone book but i forgot to get them to do it

Does anyone know how much the 4050 is going for at Costco these days? I just activated one from Radio Shack last night, $49.99 after instant rebates.

No, as that is a data only port. No pin for charging. See if they can warranty it for you. The 4050 only takes the barrel plug from the SCI chargers

Last I saw, the 4050 was $230 before rebate at Costco. For a new line of service, the rebate is a special Costco-only $200; for an upgrade, the maximum rebate is $150.

But so, for a new line of service it's only $30, and includes Costco's effective lifetime guarantee as well as some accessories.

If you broke the pin on your Toshiba 4050 or if the regular charger won't work because the "contact" is worn on your phone, you can purchase a "Cradle" Charger for this phone to charge it instead. I had this happen and my phone was out of warranty. I didn't have insurance. For about $30 you can buy the cradle charger and it'll save you from having to buy a new phone. You can find the Cradle charger on ebay or if you go to the Audiovox website. Audiovox is the OEM with Toshiba on this phone and they have several models which are identical. Look for for the one that also says Toshiba 4050 for Sprint PCS.
By the way...the "flat" input you see on the bottom of the 4050 is for the data cable...it is NOT a charger contact. The two littl metal squares are for the cradle charger.

I have the same problem. The Sprint tech said that my charging pin is dead and naturally that's not covered under my warranty. Did you find anything? I think there's a desktop charger on the Audiovox website for the Audiovox 9950 that will work. Let me know if you found something else. Thanks!
