I didnt see it mentioned (did a search), so here it is.

##USB# ( ##872#) brings up a menu titled "USB MODE". It is different than the one in ##DEBUG# (##33284).

it has the options :
Modem, Composite, Storage, PictBridge

As of now, the later two options are not selectable.

These work as well:
##7382#
##738#

Those bring up another menu under display, mybuddy. I'm not sure what they do. Could stand for ##PET#, ##PET2#. I dunno
could be ##REV#, ##REVA#. or ##SET#, ##SET2# (as in Rate Set 1, Rate Set 2).... No clue. Yet.

you might want to try ##786(RTN)...

only if you want to delete all of your info in the device

Doesn't list MM-7400 on the site:

http://www.cipa.jp/pictbridge/CertifiedModels/PictBridgeCertifiedModels_E.html#CEL_SANYO

Does list Japanese Sanyos though.

This would be very cool to have and use though.

Edit: just noticed .jp in url. makes sense now.

WOW, thank you so much. ive had my 7400 and data cable for a month now, and i could not for the life of me get the modem to work with my laptop. so i hit your code and went to modem, and it must have activated something, cause now my phone works as a modem! does anyone else use their 7400 as a modem? im just wondering if your phone worked without selecting modem this way.

I'm still trying to get my 7400 to connect to my Palm TT5 using the SupplyNet Cable and the #777 method. Anyone with suggestions since SupplyNet is clueless?

hmmmm.....when you do the ##738# (pet), you get an new option under "my buddy" for Default, off, and download!!!??? does this mean you can download or somehow get another buddy? it shounds like the built the ability to change buddies into the firmware, it seems like its just a matter of getting the resource file onto the phone. any ideas or thoughts on this???

i believe on the newer firmware, the ##usb# is disabled. however, you can still change the usb options using ##33284#. the usb menu is on the bottom

I've done a few searches for slot cycle, but there isn't a real mention of what it is. In the debug menu, the following is listed:

SID 4139 (which I know is Sprint PCS KC)
Channel 75 (varries from 75 to 50)
-93dBm (signal strength, but what is best/worst?)
Slot Cycle, 2 (that is my biggest question, what is it?)
Technology - Digital (no brainer here)
Frequency 1900MHz (no brainer again)

So what is slot cycle and what is its use?

really makes me wonder if we can somehow use bitpim to "extract" the puddy resource file from the file system of one phone and put it on the filesystem of another phone, then perhaps use this menu feature to select.

On my 8200, I get the dowload option as well...I don't have a data cable nor do I have bitpim or any of those so, can't say what it does really. Don, email me and let me know what kind of donation you are looking for, I don't mind doing it again. Better yet, shoot me a PM if ya don't mind.

That's a good question. How would you do that? I've got a new 7400 replacement from lockline and the ##USB# doesn't work on this one, but it works on my old one.

FYI:

The software version is 1.030SP Hardware version: 0102 on the new one

When I do the ##872# I don't get anything, nothing happens on the screen. When I do the ##DEBUG# (##33284#) it brings up the menu that was mentioned with USB on the bottom. Selecting USB on the bottom, it brings up another that says modem and composite.

If I then select modem, the screen goes back to the normal wait for a call to come in screen, no further choices are presented. Is that what is supposed to happen?

Then, if I plug the phone in to the computer, the computer does nothing, no new hardware detected.

Any insight as to what I should/should not be doing?
