Anybody got advice on the best PlayStation 2 games?

I have to get someone 5 PS2 games for Christmas and I need advice on the best PS2 games out there.

I already got Grand Theft Auto: SA on the list so I need 4 more. I'm not a fan of video games so I don't know, so let me know wassup.

Metal Gear Solid 3 should be cool. that would be my #1 vote

prince of persia: warrior within, call of duty: finest hour, need for speed underground 2. theres some kick ass games with a little variety.

i have to agree Ace Combat looks really cool. i remember when the first one came out on PSONE. i played the hell out of that game and it never got old.

Also, I haven't had a chance at PoP:WW yet, but it sounds like they mangled a lot of what was great about its predecessor. I'd say go for PoP: Sands of Time instead.

I own this game and love it! I played the crap out of Sands of Time.

The combat and fighting moves, in Warrior Within, are a lot more fun and entertaining, IMHO. :)

After reading this thread I'm a bit curious as to what age you're looking for too but Prince of Persia Warrior Within is certainly a good buy. I just got it for my Xbox and it's a great game.

Any and all of the Ratchet and Clank series: Ratchet and Clank, Ratchet and Clank - Going Commando, Ratchet and Clank - Up Your Arsenal.

The first two are both available as bestsellers at $19.95 new, much less used. Up Your Arsenal is new, and you can expect to pay $39.95 for it.

If you don't mind us (me) asking, who are these games meant for? It might make a difference in some of the choices. Going along the same lines as DocWatson, the jak and Dexter series is good too. The first two can usually be had for about $20 and the newest on for $40-$50.

Yep...the Jak series is a bunch of goood games.But everything after the first Jak + Daxter is less kid-oriented and enjoyed by all ages. same with Ratcet+Clank, just watchout for possible seizures :hee:
Also, you may want to check out Sly Cooper and now Sly2: Band of Thieves
thats gonna bea good title that goes across all ages.

late 20s female and she's a state trooper so she likes racing games or games involving stuff with high speed. thats why ace combat, need for speed and gta would be good and then maybe a sophisticated combat game so i included metal gear solid. she already has burnout 3 and grand turisum (or whoever u spell it) isnt out yet i dont think so that would of been my 5th choice. any sports games are out. so unless theres a really good new racing game out there ill probably get some type of combat game like tekken or devil may cry or somethin...
