I read the threads on the LG PM-325.

I have some questions that weren't really explained:

1) Text messaging. Does it have true SMS which is really fast? Or do you have to do that stupid "shortmail" crap where you log onto the web via vision and type your text message from there? And also wondering if you can send and receive text messages while on a call? I have the Sanyo 4900 and sending text messages that way is soooo slow and painful.

2) The BlueTooth. How does the BlueTooth work with a headset? And how does the BlueTooth work when using your laptop to connect to the internet via Vision.

3) Address book. I use a program called SnapSync right now. Is there any software that I can use to load contacts to my phone, without having to load each contact via the phone?

4) Battery life. Lets here the skinny on that.

Only one i can answer. The only phones still with the shortmail pain is the 620/vga1000 and the rl2500/5400 from sanyo. Lord knows why that was brought back, loved it, but poor seller.

I am curious about battery life as well. Currently have the 4920, and i understand it won't be as strong, but want to see what others think of it in general. Heavy vision user.

Also curious about impressions now that the honeymoon period has worn off for those lucky enough to get it. Thanks much.

From what I have read so far:
1- Has built in text messaging on the phone

2- Yes BT works with the headset and DUN for vision connection on the laptop

3- You will have to use a USB cable to be able to SYNC, will not be done using BT since no OBEX on the phone

4- I have read both good and bad in regards to the battery life, all depends on your usage.

i have one and:

1 - yes, it has SMS

2 - bluetooth works well with my headset and for DUN with my IBM Thinkpad

3 - Syncing: not without a cable, and I havent tried it

4 - Battery life seems fine. I havent been able to run it down in a day, but I might not use it as much as other people. Also, it charges back up lightning fast.

Not to get nitpicky but the OP asked how the bluetooth works with a headset and laptop...which would probably best be answered by a link to some bluetooth website or database thing.

I want to buy this for my girlfriend to go along with her new ibook (yeh she is gonna have a good christmas), but the one question I haven't been able to pin down is whether dun works consistantly EVERYTIME with little effort on the mac.

Good to know about the sms, that was my other concern.

The BT on this phone has already presented itself as a problem and a business rep has arranged a replacement for my unit that was received on Dec7. After researching and finding an internel document that addresses some of the issues with the camera and pairing a headset she advised and helped to arrange shipment of another phone. I have gone through three maufacturers of headsets to include the STEP 1150, the Earglove BlueVoice (sold by Sprint) and two Jabra BT 250's. The STEP and Earglove disconnected several times and randomly during the day with the Jabra performing the best overall, however malfunctioning during a long inactive periods. This exchange is the last for me after three T608's and now the second LG PM 325. I feel the issues are still with Sprint's BT handsets and not the headsets. I've been a Sprint business customer for almost 6 years and have had enough.

Well, I don't think my gf will use a bt headset, however I am buying the phone for the dun to work with her ibook, without me playing technical support.

Just curious if it will work as advertised without jumping through hoops.

Well I don't think they advertise that you can use the dail up network fearture with laptops considering it is against the user agreement. Just make sure you girlfriend doesn't use it too much becuase they WILL turn off her vision if it is painfully obvious that she is using too much bandwith.

I would buy the 325 every day and twice on Sunday.

But, that aside, to answer your questions:

1.) Yes, it is true SMS and it is fast as a mofo.

2.) BT headset pairing is easy; works like a charm. DUN (dialup networking) is super easy as well. Works great for me.

3.) This is a question mark; the BT profiles do not support OBEX, so a cable is the only way (currently). I do not have a cable so I can't tell you (although I do have the SnapSync software and have used it on many phones.) I am not sure SnapSync supports the LG-325 yet.

So the short answer is you have to re-enter you contacts. (This is an annoyance but not a big deal for me, esp. when people call me, I just add them in).

4.) The battery life is very good, in my opinion for the size of the phone and battery. There is an extended battery, which would make the battery life rediculously long.

I feel your pain - I have been through a few T608's and I am waiting for my first LG. I must have bluetooth for connectivity with my Axim. Sprint does not offer an SD cell card so this is it for options. I am already quite upset about lack of OBEX support ... they could have left vcard on to load your contacts.

I haven't had any problems using DUN with my Tungsten T3. It's a little unsettling at first, because you keep getting disconnects and reconnects, but the connection process is very fast, and it doens't seem to affect throughput at all. THen again, I'm not downloading megs of information, I'm checking email and using AIM/YM.

So far, I've been VERY happy with the battery life. I use my phone a lot, and the only time I've gotten it down below two bars on the battery was when I used the phone for a 2.5 hour phone call on top of some other assorted usage. That's pretty good, considering the rated talk time is only 2.5 hours. I do have an order in for the extended battery, though.

I love how fast the phone charges. And the SMS is pretty damn good -- the only knock i have on it is the fact that T9 does not stay on. You have to set it for each message. I liked the T9 interface on the T608 a bit better... but that's the only place that I like the T608 better at this point. (OBEX excluded... I rarely used that for the T608 after initially loading contacts. If FutureDial would come out with a cable and software for the PM325, I wouldn't mind the lack of OBEX much at all).

I can not understand why you would disable OBEX support for vcard transfer... Greed is what causes Sprint to disable it for file transfer.
