I believe it is. The same happens to me. It's good that we can do that though.

I think it depends on the phone and circumstances. I can sometimes recieve a call while online but it usually doesn't work. Maybe thats just because my phone is old (SCP-4900).

On my now ancient Sanyo 6400 if the data transfer has been idle long enough
a call will make it through just fine.

This happens frequently while I'm using it as a modem tethered to a laptop.

If the vision arrows are grayed out or not moving (blinking) then you should be able to recieve calls just fine. It's just when the phone is transmitting data that the calls go to VM.

For me, its too unpredictable. I know that I can be on the Internet using Yahoo Messenger and ask someone to call me and then just wait while still connected, i.e. browser still running and no data being transferred for the past several minutes - they often get voice mail.

I have noticed a pattern...If disconnect from the Internet, i.e. close the browser, and can place a phone call with no delay - then my phone was open for incoming calls. But if I try to place a call and get the screen that says, "Please wait" - then a caller would have most likely gone to voice mail.

I was very surprised one day when I was tethered to my laptop and was able to take an incoming call.

I agree. I called my cell phone when transmitting data and when in idle as well as when playing games and/or operation applications. You will only go to VM when arrows are busy, when in idle you will reach the individual. Same goes with texting. When sending myself text while arrows are busy the text icon will show but will not alarm you until data connection is idle(gray arrows). Sometimes you recieve the text right before data is connecting showing the arrows busy but for only 1 sec then will get alarmed(due to the text got to you first before data could connect.).
