Just a quick comparison question about these two phones. I would like to know what people think about these phones, their features, design, etc.; whether you own one or not. So you know, I just bought my 7400 but have been a Samsung man before that. However, after going through 5 Samsungs in the past year (3 a620, 2 a680) I decided to jump ship to the Sanyo. Just wanted to know what people thought (Yes, even about the subjective earpieces!)

You asked for it!
The Samsung has a better speaker phone (full-duplex), more animated user interface, and a clearer earpeice.
The Sanyo offers many more high-end features over the Samsung like MM, and a camera/camcorder, but it's price point also reflects this, being $150 more than the Samsung

See, this is the issue that I have ith my 7400. I don't need all the higher end features (readylink, multimedia, camera, camcorder) but I love the larger screen and the speakerphone, not to mention I have been having issues with Samsungs lately. There's my dilema, especially concerning the "subjective" earpiece. The earpiece on the 7400 is, in my opinion, much better than the 8200 and only slightly worse than my a680, but still no where near as clear as my old LG 4400 with Verizon, a 2 year old cell phone. Ah, issues!

If your main concern is a speaker phone, the Samsung is the better road to take...It has a full-duplex type, compared with the Sanyo's half-duplex...
If you are looking for a large screen, then the 7400's is definitly bigger...
If I was you, needing what you want, I'd get the Samsung A760...It has great reception, and has a very nice form factor.

What about my previous track record Tuolumne? the past 5 Samsung's that I've had have all developed speaker problems of some sort, or (my last a680) it has shut itself off when I would flip it closed. That is the only thing holding me back, except maybe for the better battery life of the 7400.

In all honesty try both phones and see what you want in either phone. SU is made up of different folks with different wants and needs. If Samsung is that bad for ya then use Sanyo or some other brand. The LG325 looks to be a nice phone also. IMO.

The Samsung VM-A680 has a speaker defect of the ringer speaker. Other Samsung's are not affected. On the A760 the ringers come out of the speakerhpone speaker anyways, not from the earpeice...I would say go with the Samsung if you don't need all the high-end features...If worst comes to worst, you can always take it back and get another phone ;)
