When SMS messaging, my phone defaults to alphabetic ("abc") mode for text entry. Is there a way to set T9 as the default text entry mode?

I believe this CAN be done on Sanyo handsets. However it only remembers that as the default until the phone is powered off.

how can you guys use T9? I think it is the most useless function of my phone, I end up deleting almost every word when I try to use it :eyeroll:

T9 is the best! If the handset predicts a different word, just hit the 'next' key to jump to another word. Quick and easy.

I find it so much easier and quicker using T9. It really is SO helpful. Once you get used to it, its second nature. Hell even my dad can use it...lol ;-)

So I guess the answer to my question is "no," since I'd like to keep it set to T9 permanently.

You hafta set it everytime you send a message. Hold the right softkey down for a couple of seconds.
