I was playing around with Motorola Razr V3 the other day and I felt in love with it. Since that phone won't work on sprint, anything close to that phone I can look around the sprint??? Or somehow I can get that phone to work on Sprint system??
Thanks

there's nothing like that for sprint.
and you can't make it work on sprint. it's a GSM phone and Sprint uses CDMA

I played with the Motorola one also and I like everything except the keypad. It feels thin and flimsy. I thought it be more solid-ish but it feels like thin piece of sheet metal that might get bent up if happens to snag a sweater or something.

holy crap what is wrong with you people. this stupid phone sucks. if you think you like it just hold it in your hand for like 5 minutes and you'll hate it.
If you talking about the "thin" factor, Sanyo 6400 would be relatively comparable. :tu:

Doesn't Sprint have GSM world phones? Could you activate one and switch the SIM cards? That is if you got an unlocked Razor. I don't know exactaly how the Sprint GSM service works though.

they have rental phones, so i doubt you could just get a SIM card from Sprint for US use.

It's also overpriced for what it is; we sell the Motorola V551 for $99, and outside of not having a color caller-id on the flip, it has everything that the Razr has, feature-wise. Plus, it's EDGE-enabled and supports video recording. Moto is just trying to earn some cash with a slick-looking handset, and while it's cool, it's decidedly overpriced...

Sprint has nothing even close. This is one of the reasons started the other thread. It would be good if Sprint could have a good Bluetooth phone with that thin form factor as a choice for those that want it.

I'd be afraid that the phone might bend or snap in my pocket. Other than that, I think it is the coolest phone I've seen in a while (cosmetically that is).

hehe I know about throwing a cell phone across a room. :D
I think on the commercials it says it is made of Titanium or some other strong alloy like it. If so, I guess it would be pretty sturdy.

The V3 doesn't have any new exciting features ... it's just slim and made of metal ... how does that make it 100000% better than any phone on the market ... it's a vanity phone, nothing more ...

Over at www.gizmodo.com they're calling it a "fashion phone." It's a handset where form definitely rules over function, but apparently it does what it does relatively well. But there's no new technology to it. Just a pretty phone.
mcurtiss1970

it may not be feature packed, but it still has fully functional BT which no "mass-released" Sprint phone can boast of.
it's totally a fashion phone, and that's ok.

Kevin RL is a niche product too, but people still like it. and i bet if Sprint had only one phone with it people would clamor for more.
Somewhere on Yahoo! news I saw an article about how handsets sold with BT in the US would jump to something like 50-60% (forgive me if i'm off, but i recall it being a significant percentage) within 5 years. i'd be curious is Sprint will reach that percentage with their lineup alone.
just because you don't want it, doesn't mean it's not a feature other people want.

Well, features are what us phone geeks want...heh.
But, a cool looking phone is what a lot of other people want. I went into a Cingular corporate store (it took me three weeks to find one in my immediate area) and during the course of the conversation, I asked how it was selling. Now, bear in mind, this is no indicator of popularity, but given I'm in the greater Seattle area, it makes sense. He said his store alone had sold 30 since it was introduced. Clearly it has appeal to a certain demographic. It's just many of us here aren't that demographic. Heh.
There's a company doing a referral thing similar to the ipod stuff we've seen where you can get a free RAZR. Heh, it's almost worth doing just to try it out. Free $600 phone, $20 for a SIM card, and away we go. But it seems like it requires some work and effort, plus I dunno if the company is shady.
If you read the gizmodo review (you'll have to look for it) I think the guy said that it has the best audio clarity of any phone he's used and excellent reception as well. So, it's not just a sexy phone with BT, it also works really well for what it's intended to do: be a cell phone. Not all pretty packages have good things inside them, so that's saying something for the RAZR. :D
I guess I just want something a bit more practical. I know, booooring. LOL

its not small, its thin, and honestly not even that thin. the phone may be a little flatter, but its a lot wider and taller than my 680 with pretty much the same (if not worse) feature set. you were gonna switch to the worst carrier in the nation after holding a sucky phone for 8 seconds cuz it was small? ill tell you what, i got a walkie talkie i stripped down to just the speaker and an antenna so its about the size of a quarter. ill sell it to you for $1000. and trust me, its worth it. cuz its small.

The Raz'r is $369 after $150 rebate at Amazon, with Cingular Service. Other reputable places have it at similar prices. Not that expensive after all....

DUDE! Easy! You're right it is THIN. That's where the bulk of the phone being "big" bugs me. It can be wide and tall as long as it's thin. I just hate when you carry a 5500 in pants that are a little tight and it looks like you're REAL happy to see people if you know what I mean! Everything else looked quality! Cingular/ATT has very good coverage around the Cleveland market also!

That's the idea people! It's a gimmick to get you to want it. There are a bunch of phones that have the exact same features as the Razr V3 priced hundreds less. Make a list of what it does, compare it to other phones. You'll see, and I believe the Razr doesn't have a flash or a standard Moto connector port. It just has a USB plug-in.

Here are some problems someone mentioned about the phone..
* Volume buttons make a sound when you're trying to put the phone into "silent" mode.
* Alarms can go off (and by default they are quite loud) even when the phone is in "silent" mode.
* A Cingular movie plays when power up the phone, wasting the time.
* The camera is very poor in high-contrast light levels, ie with both bright and dark regions.
* Via Amazon, the phone was activated before shipped. That meant I could not port the old cell number.
Just FYI

The Blade was not the phone I was referring to in that post. The phone in this sprintpcsinfo artice was: http://www.pcsintel.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1090.
(see picture below)
Inititally, it was a tough adjustment going from the Samsung A760 to the Samsung A900 BLADE. I did not like the keypad and there were some other issues. Most of those have been worked out, with the exception of poor battery life, which will continue to hamper this handset.

No way... The Samsung A900 (once known as "Blade" - Samsung totally doesn't want it to be called that) is the closest that Sprint has to a RAZR - but it's far superior. I have used both, and while the RAZR is easier to customize and screw around with, the A900 has better hardware. The only thing keeping the A900 down is the current problems with the firmware and network. Bluetooth doesn't work too well on the A900 right now, but it'll be fixed soon.
NotoriousNeo
01-16-2006, 12:32 AM
The A900 is better than the RAZR hands-freakin' down. I don't know how many times I've said that, but after having the RAZR V3c (the newest one for Verizon) I can easily say the A900 bests it in almost every way except when it comes to the design of the keypad (the RAZR V3c's looks better, but it sucks more).
Dunpeal
01-17-2006, 01:00 AM
A900 a better phone by a long shot than the V3x series thin phones in quality and sturdiness and potential features.
Remeber the Razr has almost a one year head start on the Blade which had plenty of time to make patches for its past MAJOR problems. In about 6 months Samsung should be riding smoothly with its patches in upcoming firmware updates.

I've used both and personally I like the RAZR more. I wish Sprint had the RAZR. Everything about phone works better than the a900. The bluetooth implementation works alot better on the RAZR, and files go in the right folder. Its so cool to just be able to assign rigntones from the memory. Pairing with headsets is great, and there is a big difference in quality.
Now of course the 900 has a better camera, better media player, and a better screen. But I'm simply talking about how the features work. I'm happy Sprint is working with Motorola. Good outlook for the future!
Conclusion: a900 is not equal to the RAZR

Alow me to be the critic that I am :p
....Everything about phone works better than the a900.
ehm but then you said :
..Now of course the 900 has a better camera, better media player, and a better screen.
So therefor your use of the word "Everything about the phone" should be exempt in your criticism cause you are now contradicting your self
The bluetooth implementation works alot better on the RAZR
If you are talking about the bluetooth connectivity to a bluetooth headset I would agree with you. The bluetooth connection to most bluetooth headset with the Razr has LESS STATIC than with the Blade which has alot of static except with certain bluetooth headsets.
Motorola has more bluetooth headsets out on the market than any other name brand and is the most widely used and which of course will have better adaptation to their own products.
Now the A900 ie the Blade is way more superior in bluetooth connectivity when it comes to DUN and uploading and downloading files or file sharing than the RAZR which is turtle compared to the Blade's use of bluetooth in this field. I have ran the speed test in my store.
...and files go in the right folder...
When using bluetooth of course the set up is going to be different than Razr. the Blade has mass storage which the RAZR does not so which means you have to assign the fold you want your files to go into by using the FTP exchange feature.
If thread wants to have an all out battle and full listing of the BLADE vs. the RAZR is superiority and quality bring it on, we will be waiting ;)
psychojoe3354

Hmmm, seeing as this is a motorola thread, I wont bash on the blade, but I will say this: I used both for over 72 hours each, and the RAZR was definetly a better experience, hands down. This is my opinion of course, so don't get bent out of shape over it. I was merely answering the op's question: V3 equal to what in Sprint?
The Answer: Nothing, the RAZR is a superior phone and other manufacturer's are jealous.
I've used both and personally I like the RAZR more. I wish Sprint had the RAZR. Everything about phone works better than the a900. The bluetooth implementation works alot better on the RAZR, and files go in the right folder. Its so cool to just be able to assign rigntones from the memory. Now of course the 900 has a better camera, better media player, and a better screen. But I'm simply talking about how the features work. I'm happy Sprint is working with Motorola. Good outlook for the future!
Conclusion: a900 is not equal to the RAZR
The Razor has been released it seams a hundred different times. It had so many glitches when it first came out it was recalled. I hope after all the new Model Versions that were released it would be a decent phone. And by the way, the a900 is a much better looking phone and works just as well, in fact consumer reports and other cnet gave it a higher score than the first razor released.
