I can confirm that Sanyo 5600 is not EV-DO enabled. It utilises Qualcomm MSM6100 chipset, which only support CDMA 1 x Rev 0 and A.

We wont know what it has until it is out. Who says there is not a second chipset? I highly doubt it will be EV-DO enabled but I don’t see why people think they know for sure before it is released. Silly.

I hope its not. That way they dont hold it until the network is ready. If they did we may never see the phone.

No one EVER officially said the phone would be or would NOT be EV-DO... it is all SPECULATIOn by the above name hats with no proof other than his own mindset.

Whats the big deal with having EV-DO on your handset? Could someone please explain this to me? Sprint currently has no content offerings available that would make this feature worthwhile.

Imagine being connected with your handset with a data cable at speeds almost equaling true DSL speeds. That is a very big deal to most people including myself. It is not known yet however if they will allow porting of EV-DO out of the handset. For instance they could be ****ey and make you dial #888 for instance which you could not access if you didn’t pay the $80 unlimited data plan per month.  that scenario is completely hypothetical so I don’t want to start any rumors but they could do that.

However more than likely you will just be able to dial #777 and be on at speeds of 300-500k/sec which would be incredible. That is why the big deal.

It doesn't confirm anything... we have to wait till the official papers/answers come out.

I would never give out any other info than this so don't bother asking, but..

Don't even bother with the sanyo 5600. It is utter crap compared to what will come out 2 to 4 months later. You will hate yourself if you buy this phone, it's a complete joke. Don't listen to what any other sprint employee says (most are low level anyways). It will pay to wait.
