I've been reading some of the posts from some of the newer members..and some from a few of the older ones..and I've come to realize that there are people here that post threads and these people don't appear to have a lot of common sense. This all gives me an idea. An idea that goes hand in hand with Dave's new changes to the warning system and the temp. bans and whatnot. How about, if there is a user that is spamming SU with numerous redundant, meaningless threads (Why should I have to pay for Lock/Line...why can't they just give me a new phone??) or flaming other users, then we can start a pole...kinda like a "Ban Ted" pole that was done somewhere else. If enough of the members here at SU vote that the offending user deserves a temp ban then, so be it.....THE TRIBE HAS SPOKEN!!! I mean, why not try to help take some of the decision making burden off of Dave and the Mods. SU-By The Users, For The Users, right? Just a random thought to play with.

Really??...You don't say!! I know that "double 0"...if that's your real name...lol It was just like I said, an idea that I had and I decided to throw it out in the open.

But really the only major problem is that you would run into a "popularity contest" type of situation. Now I can't say that it wouldn't have been nice to vote Hat off the island.

Interesting idea. I'm not sure why it was necessary to single me out, especially since I don't fit the description of what you are complaining about.

Furthermore, it is definitely not necessary to discuss what goes on at "the other site we aren't allowed to mention."

In short, don't bring that sheezit over here. If you want to suggest voting on bans, suggest it.

Besides, voting to ban someone or not is nothing more than a popularity contest, and was meaningless elsewhere as it would be here.

Additionally, users with lots of questions isn't always a bad thing. Yes, I know sometimes it's annoying, but we were all newbies once too.

i say just temp ban them on sight. it's obvious the person in question is just trying to "test" the system. and if the system doesn't do anything about it, he'll keep on posting nonsense.

well if you feel someone is doing that, just posting random BS, just hit the "report post" button, so any of us mods get the email so we can check into it. sometimes we do miss some stuff

a ban on this board is pretty much useless to me. membership is still open, just get a proxy and a new user name and your back in. not much of a deferrent in my opinion.

true, but i don't think being defeatist will sove any problems. i'd rather attack a problem then let one happen to me.

It is my opinion that putting up polls asking whether we should ban a user or not is pretty rude to that user. How would you like it if someone put up a poll asking if you should be banned?

Let's keep the discussion open though, maybe we could work some system out.

And I've moved this to the Forum Info / Feedback area of the site where it really belongs. :tu:

Of course its a popularity contest, how do you think we got the majority of the mods?

This thread is a riot. I happen to know that Dave considers our suggestions. If you want proof, take notice of the fact that I am here in my original form!

Not all suggestions will be acted upon. Some things just don't make sense for the whole group (example, my suggestion to reorganize the site).

As for Mods? You couldn't pay me to babysit this crew... I think we should give the mods a little more credit for even trying to make sense out of the chaos (which I, admittedly, have participated in from time to time.)

Nope, not based on popularity. The MODs are chosen because they have good knowledge about the topics discussed, are active participants in discussion, and have been posting for quite a while. A lot of their work is behind the scenes and is generally unnoticed. It is also a voluntary position and I greatly appreciate their time and interest in the forum.

Agreed, every manufacturer has to have an advocate, just like JJ was the advocate for Toshiba. Sanyo actually has several, who would be the leader of the sanyo fan club?

SL4 = Sprint Ambassador to Sanyo.
Mercialago/JJ = Toshiba Team Leader.
