Hello, I have the Sanyo 8100 and it has worked OK for a year now, although the shortmail has NEVER worked reliabley. Now I can't even hold a call for more then 45 seconds before it gets dropped, and now I can never get online.
Thiis is what happens.. please keep in mind this happens everywhere and that during this process I don't move the phone at all
1) I will attempt to go to my shortmail or the web by clicking the link, at this time my phone will say it has full reception, all the bars up
2) After waiting for the Connecting as **@sprintpcs.com everytime it will either stop because the message comes up saying that it is looking for reception even though I haven't moved the phone from where it had full reception less then ten seconds ago, or I get the the 2048 message..
----------
Error Code 2048
Network Busy.
Please try again.
----------
The problem has become rediculous that my phone is basically useless, I can't get online, can't make calls half the time even though I have full reception. And even worse I won't recieve calls even though my phone is working with full reception. The person on the otther end just hears about 6 rings so they think my phone is on than it goes to my voicemail. Then I never even know anyonw told me.
This problem has become rediculous and I am beginning to think that I will be going to bestbuy on christmas eve to get a new carrier, the day my sprint expires.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? I would say the chance of a call going through now is about 1 out of 5 and the chance of getting a web connection is upwards of 1 out of 30

Sounds like the 8100 is dying on ya. Maybe best to swap it out. Take it to a SPCS store and the HP test may show if the RF is bad on it. If it is going bad and the 8100 is still under warranty then the store should swap it out.

wow.. i just got back from the sprint pcs store... i showed them the error right there... and this is what they tell me
"you can call tech support *2 on your phone and ask for the trouble shooting department"
i honestly don't know wether it was the store or Sprint as a company, but I believe this is the worst experience I have ever had with any sort of tech company... I certainly will never be signing another contract witht them...

ok update.. after talking to six tech support people bringing the total number up to 15, I finally got a woman who said they would take 5% off all my future sprint bills and she said she wrote an email to the sprint store that I went to saying that they must give me a replacment phone... So we will see what happens when I go..
I dont get why you didnt just call support in the first place instead of posting here. Its obvious it can only be fixed by sprint. Glad you got it worked out.

He asked for Help! is why he posted here.
This forum is for EVERY SprintUser to use and ask questions.
He just wanted to know if it could be his phone or the network. I didn't read it until now, or I would have advised, as several people did, him to take the phone to the store.
I know your new here, Nov 8, 04, so all I ask is that you be patient w/ others and allow them ask their questions.
That is the biggest reason people come to this forum is cause they know they can ask questions most of the time w/o being persecuted, belittled or ridiculed.
Everyone here should have a good time, enjoy quick wit or conversation and that is what I believe this board is all about.

my 8100 has the same problems - i assumed the network busy and error code 67 stuff was because there really was no slot available - i also had the thing where the phone does not ring and goes to voicemail - i rationalized that spcs was performing the ev-do upgrade and i was being impacted - anything to keep from calling customer service
about which - we don't call customer service because we don't get help or answers - or rarely do - (battery out/battery in etc.) - it would be nice if spcs would open a problem record, supply us with the number so the problem could be tracked - or spcs could do some trend analysis or see how many people in d/fw have an open record - instead of telling me to read my service agreement because indoor service is not included

I have had this problem with my 8100 so they swapped it out for the 8200...2 weeks later it happened to my 8200. i went in to the store a told them that it was happening again...after about half an hour of talking with a manager they decided to upgrade me to the 5500 which is working fine now. now its happening to my wifes phone which is the 8200....she went in and they did all the tests and of couse they couldnt find anything wrong with it and sent her on her way. so i took her phone in and they are now ordering another 8200. i have a feeling ill go in again and have to get it upgraded because in my experience the 8100 and 8200 are the biggest piles of crap sanyo has ever made.
