Well, there are differing points of view, so let's separate the changes and see who wants what.

Check any and all that you are in favor of...

um no Poll.

Ted

it takes a minute to enter the poll, you know that. :)

it's my opinion to just let it go and "just be"

Ted

there's a poll option for that... please vote it, i'm truly trying to see what EVERYONE wants. not just me.

oh i got ya. yeah, maybe so. i admit my selfish motive - to not have to trip over lockline and earpiece stuff. :lmao:

Here are my comments:

Merge News/Announcements with FAQ
The News & Announcements section is what gets automatically posted to the front page of the website -- does anybody hit the front page of SprintUsers.com before coming to the forum, anymore? Also, FAQs don't really go well with announcements, in my opinion.

Merge Wireless Store/Trading Post
Wireless Store is for paying advertisers to sell goods and services. It is a pay-for access area. The Trading Post is for anybody to sell/trade items. Don't you think these areas are pretty different?

Merge PDA phones and Connectivity
PDA Phone discussion is a pretty active area, and so is the Connectivity section. I also don't like the idea of merging those.

Feel free to post al your comments, as I want the end result being something that is most logical for all users.

And the verdict?

Well right now the whole topic is still open for discussion. Reorganizing the forum's layout is a pretty big change.

Gee, thanks. :eyeroll:

In all seriousness, though, while there was some early feedback in the other thread that made me think that this would benefit everyone, more recent feedback has indicated that many like things "just as they are".

Also I agree with Dave's comments about not merging the forums.

The current setup is working. No sense doing a ton of work to change it unless there was an overwhelming majority of opinion to do so, which there doesn't seem to be at this point.

Regardless, I think the discussion was constructive. If I come up with other ideas I will post them.

I have another opinion on this: don't change a thing. why? because all the shifting to lock down earpiece or lockline issues that ted is looking for is moot if you're like me and view threads by using the "New Posts" option. I see everything and read what I want out of that. so adding subs won't accomplish anything for people like me.

I have a thought. Any way we could make it so the FAQ threads can be replied to? I'm sure there was a reason to the way it is now, but it's just a thought. Feel free to shoot it down.

The thought behind my suggestion, though, is that allowing replies in the FAQ would potentially reduce some of the redundancy in the general forum without causing a major headache regarding the layout.

Otherwise, don't change a thing. I don't think any of the proposed forum mergers seem like a natural fit. Like the saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Alright. Let the shooting begin.

no shooting here. and although we have had some semi-negative feedback (and really negative feedback in other locations) i think the discussion is constructive.

and everything discussed doesn't necessarily come to be. sometimes good ideas need to be vetted out.

replies to FAQ probably wouldn't hurt anything but they could get long.

well instead of replying to FAQ page, why dont they start a thread about it in the general thread or whatever section pertains to that topic

I'm aware that they could get long, as they are at HoFo. But the idea is reduce redundancy, correct? If people could reply to the threads in the FAQ with either already answered questions or unanswered ones for that matter, then it would reduce the redundancy to some extent. I think it works at HoFo. And I would have to say that is the only thing I would like to see changed, because sometimes additional info is available for FAQ threads and you can't provide that either, you have to start a new thread somewhere else.

This is my idea on how to reduce the clutter. I think it would work better than the current system and isn't that the purpose of this forum and the thread in particular?

It would work for me if it suits the general populus. And yes, that's the point!

All suggestions are good!
