Just wanted to let everyone know imforwards.com has updated their site to now include yahoo and msn messaging through sms.

For those who don't know this service allows you to have 2 way Instant messaging conversations via SMS for all 3 major IM providers. You can use it for aim free forever but there is a 4.99 monthly fee after a 14 day trial for yahoo and msn.

Wouldn't the point of this service be defeated if you have PCS Vision? Then you can just use the AIM 'mini-site' to send instant messages. Or is this geared towards people without the Vision services, and only have text messaging?

IMO it's ALOT faster and ALOT easier to use aim via sms than it is for vision. Vision is too slow.

However faster and easier it may be, it's not necessarily easier on the wallet. I spend the $10 on Unltd. Vision and then I spend some amount on text messages, however I'm only allowed 100, so when I cross that line, I should sign over my house, and all major organs to Sprint? Personally, I use up some text messages, (roughly 50) a month, and I do use instant messaging far more than that. (500 a month, as in I type a sentence, press enter, about 500 times a month) So would that be a help or a hindrance to me?

Yep, it sure is...I've setup my account. The only problem I'm having is whenever I reply to IMs forwarded to me, they never get received by the other person.

I've emailed tech support.

sorry to hear youre having so many problems. there is also another service www.ai-buddy.com which works only for aim but the same way. you can send and recieve im's thru sms but to use im forwarding i believe its also 4.00 (you have to upgrade to elite 2). check that one out too.. i just prefer imforwards because i have access to yahoo.

Wish there was a wap interface for it. Is there any stand alone aim apps I can download?

I prefer Verichat for my Treo, works great, and it's only $25 a year for all of the IM services it supports. I mainly use it for my MSN and my yahoo accounts. I don't have AIM, and can't remember my icq account.

ai-buddy.com can also be used over wap at wap.ai-buddy.com there was a java app you could download for aim msn and yahoo for a fee ( you had to keep it open and running to stay online which i didnt like ) i dont remember the name of it tho. i heard of it on here so maybe u can find it if u do a search?
