View Full Version : LG PM-325 has been put on "indefinite suspension"?

According to an internal memo and some hearsay at the local Sprint store-
Due to some apparent hardware and software bugs, the LG PM-325 may not be released this year, if at all. Sprint has notified some of the stores who received early shipment to send back their units to check for these bugs, one of which apparently involves OBEX file transfer on bluetooth.
Issues have also arisen regarding the phone's sliding mechanism failing, and short-circuiting the locking mechanism, causing the phone to place a call to voicemail when the slider is closed.
If the bug turns out to be widespread, the phone may only see limited sales ala T608. LG has temporarily stopped manufacturing the device until the problem is corrected. It is estimated that 40-50% of the devices LG has already manufactured are plauged with these problems.

It is always the good stuff that we miss out on. This is the second phone that has the "slider" on it that has been recalled. The first being the Kyocera SE47.

I stopped by the Sprint store today and asked about it. In the past, these guys have been right on the money (The A700 and 7400 releases specifically) , and today they were discussing it. Apparently, the demand for this phone was pretty good, too, and they've had a lot of customers inquire about it.

Calls being placed... awaiting 'responses' from some folks...
I am not all that suprised to be honest. While the phone looked to have a cool and innovative design, it didn't look to me like it would be the most sturdy, and probably pretty susceptible to breaking. I personally hope it does make it out, not because I am considering purchasing it (I'm not a fan of LG) but I would like to see it in person to see how it works/looks.

Well, that's just great! I hope it's just a rumor, although I wouldn't be surprised if it's not. As much as I wanted to stay with Sprint, I guess I'll have to leave after all. :(

Does this at all affect the 525 release? I am desperatly awaiting that phone as all I really want in a phone is a 1mp camera with memory slot (none that are out already that I know of, are there?).
Any news on the 525 lately by the way? Soooo desperate for its release :hee:

Then again, its been promised almost every other week since August, so why should we believe its "This Friday"? At this point, I am gonna ignore the 325 and hope for the best with the "supposed" February release for the lg 535.
I am done being let down with the 325.
February is when I get my next $150 rebate anyway.

Ahh i figured as such... plan changes would/should NOT affect your ability to upgrade phones, as long as you meet the 18month / $35MRC requirement.

Oh really? What if I am currently on an a retail employee plan, does that make a difference? Also it says that my 18 months is not up yet but that is because my phone's screen died on me and the sprint reps never told me that it was a common defect with this phone and they can replace it. So instead I bought one off ebay for 15 bucks hehe. So they reset my 18 month thing. That can't be right I would think.

don't know when other stores should/will receive it. I can tell you that it is the most anticipated phone of my life. Heck, I've even dreamed of this phone in my sleep.
I even ordered and received the G2 bluetooth headset already. When the phone comes I'm going to up my plan minutes to 2500 and discontinue my landline at home.

The Employee Plans will not show the correct date for your handset upgrade - I just had to deal with this for one of my agents. Matter of fact, you might want to check and verify that you even have a contract, some employee plans don't. You're not required to have a contract for that plan, so basically it depends on who set it up. Most people just leave the contract alone when they set it up, and it will run its' normal course, but some people delete the contract and put on a 0 yr term code.

So they are shipping?
Okay, this information was based on a notice sent out to the local Sprint store regarding these several bugs, and that Sprint was considering holding off the release of this phone until production issues had been resolved.
One other issue with the early models of this phone- the volume bug present in the LG 6100 and 6000. This issue is mostly taken up by Sprint (LG Denies that this is a problem because they don't seem to mind putting out shoddy merchandise it seems), and has hopefully been minimized or corrected.

Aren't you the person who said the VM4050 was discontinued.... 3 months ago?
SLDNchick
11-30-2004, 02:31 PM
Actually the VM4050 was discontinued. Then they realized that it created an uproar, and it was brought back a few weeks later.
Many didn't notice since some stores still had them in stock, but for a short time no new inventory orders were taken with the reason being they had discontinued the phone. Then everyone threw a fit (cause it was a good phone and a good seller) and they brought it back. :p
Aren't you the person who said the VM4050 was discontinued.... 3 months ago?

Well, I was in NYC over the holiday. Coming out of the subway station at 34th and Broadway, there was this huge banner advertising 3 LG phones: the VX7000, the PM325 and some other one I don't know what it was. Go figure, I checked into a Sprint store a few blocks from there, "sorry, we don't have that phone yet and we don't know when". Nice going Sprint, LG & Radioshack. Advertise a phone that isn't even out yet.

Besides, all the dates given have all been 'from what I heard/overheard/underheard/read/borrowed/snuck/whatever'. There is no major piece of documentation out there that says: LG325, Release Date: Feb 32, 20xx
