i get this severe crash often where it goes into the palmone stat up mode and keeps cycling in it and never finishes. so i must hard reset. is this the way the unit crashes, and is a hard reset the only way out of it.
is there anyway to get out of that screen cycling without hard reset?

Sounds like you have a program from your old Treo 600 and when you sync, it's putting it into the 650. Go into your C:\Palm (or where the palm software is installed), go into your HotSync ID and then backup, and remove most of the programs that have to do with system settings. I went through, and so did my mother when she went from her Palm Vx to my old Treo600.
Good Luck!

I had this issue when I had the 600. and it boiled down to just reflashing the Firmware. You can get the Firmware from Palm. It's a free download. Beware though, everything may get erased from your 650. Also, there might be a software update available as well.

If you phone continues to have a problem in looping/crashing, take it into the nearest SPRINT PCS service store for replacement. Palmone and SPRINT PCS are aware of this issue, seems a software bug of some sort.
Hope they come out with published fix in the near term.

Easiest way is to just delete all the files in that folder. That'll make sure that nothing is causing the crashes. Then you can add your apps one at a time back, and see what causes the crashes (usually system utilites like Treo butler, and stuff made specifically for T600).
Good Luck.

Agreed, best advice.
