Or more correctly: Each free or low-priced phone must be purchased with a new line of service, right?

No ... you can get all deals if you qualify for the upgrade program ... you will get all the amounts back in the form of mail-in-rebates ... you can mix and match instant w/ mail-in if you want to add a line and do upgrades at the same time

Our market has "Buy one Samsung 660 for $29.99 and get up to four free" for the entire Christmas season. The Sanyo RL4920 goes for $39.99 for the first one with up to four free as well.
This weekend we are offering the Sanyo 8200 (http://csb.sprint.com/servlet/Catalog/ps_pcs_8200?product=770010298) for free with any new activation, upgrade, or add-a-line. Normally it would go for $179.99 AFTER $150 instant rebate. How's that for a deal? We sold about 15 today out of our store.

You said UPGRADE? I am elligiable for the 18 month upgrade... can I get this phone for free...? Or will my deal magically switch to a mail-in rebate?
also, with a mail in rebate... will it be free...? because I know that it is normally $129 with a mail-in...
PLEASE LET US KNOW MORE!

Yeah, usually $129.99 after rebate, my bad.
Yes, this is on upgrades as well, you could get this phone for free, but the offer does vary region-to-region. And no, the rebate is instant, no mail-in.

I did this yesterday in South Carolina. I was eligible for the $150 instant rebate on two new phones. I picked up two new 8200s for free (instead of $260 after rebate or $560 full price).
Nice!
I did not open any new lines, but did have to sign a 2-year contract on both lines.

not in richmond, va, according to the employees there. 8200 is the usual price. and no price matching. you can get the $150 off by upgrading, but the phone will be $129 still after that.

Depends on your credit class...

No, it seems just to depend on your location. You can get this phone for free even if you're in the worst credit class, approved for 1 line with the $250 deposit with the $125 spending limit. Both of my stores sold out of 8200's today.
