Hey I was looking at the phones on the sprint site and came across the Samsung RL-A760. Im not a fan of the phone cause of the no color ext. screen and camera. But I came across this interesting fact about the phone :
Voice SMS Capable: The RL-A760 is the first handset to feature Sprint SMS The RL-A760 is the first handset to feature Sprint SMS Voice Messaging. Voice SMS Messaging builds on traditional text-based SMS to allow users to send and receive instant voice messages without going through a voicemail system. You can also reply to a Voice SMS with another Voice SMS, a text message or an email.
So the question is will the MM5600 have this feature on it also???

I think the RL-760 came out the same week as the 7400 so technically who's first is 'debatable'. :p

Actually all phones may be able to use that... my Nokia 6225 is capable of sending "voice" SMS... There is site called heyanita.com, which I believe is the same technology contracted by Sprint, which offers a free trial. I signed up for a three month free trial some time ago and they renewed it for another three months without me even having to ask.
You access the service by calling a regular number in the Northern CA area, the number allows you to record your message and tell the system the recipient's cell number. The recipient will receive a regular text message telling them they have a voice SMS. Depending on the phone, the person can just click on the link included on the text message and be connected to the voice SMS or they can dial the access number included in the message. My bf can check just by clicking on the link and his phone dials the access number automatically. My 6225 cannot do that so I have to place a regular call to retrieve my messages.
It's the same concept as picture mail. You just get a text message that allows you to link or tells you what number to call to retrieve the message.

doesnt voice sms defeat the point of a text message? if you want to "talk" to someone thats why you call them. if they want to hear or talk to you thats why they answer. if you have readylink then there is your instant voice message. bleh.
