Before the flames start...there is NO better phone it is WHAT IS BEST FOR YOU...I personally love the 7400.

Samsung offers better earpeice comparable to your A600...The Sanyo's is very unclear and muffled...

The Samsung offers a better looking screen (262K vs. 65K), better animated user interface, and a better camera (swiveling 1 mega pixle vs. fixed VGA type)...

The Sanyo offers Ready Link, and a half duplex speaker phone (not that hot for long conversations)...

In my oppinion, the A700 is a much better choice just for the earpeice clarity alone...

Go listen to both of them and see what you think ;)

Think again...

I have owned both the 8100, and 8200...Both were promptly returned...

I did a little listen of a 7400 at my Sprint store, and it was the exact same as the ones that I have had...Too much bass

Before flames even start lets agree to disagree...

I have the 7400 and it is great for me...that why I personally hate these this phone vs that phone threads...people feel the need to bash one phone as they make theirs seem perfect when the fact is it NOT....THE PERFECT PHONE IS SUBJECTIVE...Depends on what you like and want...PERIOD.

Weeks ago there there a million threads about the a700 and its drawbacks...While I wont say the 7400 is the best of the two I will say I am VERY HAPPY with it. I found one con on the the phone and that is the ACC ringers take alot of space...If you truly want to get the best phone try them out for yourself..draw your own opinion...

Some other things to consider...

The Sanyo offers metting mode, call screening, and has a rugged design...

Yes...

The call screening, meeting mode, and found me are all Sanyo only features...

Just like the Samsung's exterior volume buttons being able to send calls to voice mail...

these ACC ringers sound so good but they take a bundle of space on the a700 too. i can't have too many.

now i know the 5600 will be very tempting (miniSD storage! yay) ;)

btw i think both the a700 and 7400 are good. it's a draw.

well I've played around with it, and have gotten awesome sounding AAC files at 80kb, which is perfect!

Mine are going about 220k thats letting DDN create the file...Deval how are you doing it?

I am honestly thinking I can PASS on the 5600 now because it is silver and I dont like the design soo far...Now I know I get the phone itch...but I really like the 7400.

hope everybody is enjoying their turkey/tofurkey tonight, i sure will be. I have both MM phones right now on my two lines and i'm testing them, finding the pro's and con's of each. I will be contributing to this thread shortly. Thank you.

Also, to those who have a Sanyo right now and say they're going to pass on the 5600, dream on. I'm sure this phone will blow us away. And you will NOT be able to resist it due to the sheer fact that you're all phone whores (just like me) and you want the latest and greatest.

to those whose hearing is tuned so that they cannot stand Sanyo earpieces, you are the accursed, because you are unable to enjoy the best phones Sprint offers.

I am a little distraught. I would have never thought of myself as a phone whore. I just thought I liked phones.

I think that whatever works for you is the best one. I have always owned samsungs but that doesnt mean that they are 'better.' One thing I do like about sanyo is how they tend to offer different colors, and now the changable face plates. When I owned my 8200 I didnt start having problems until 4 - 5 months later (probably just wear and tear) They also have the area code recognition and I thought that option was awesome, however my a700 also has that now. Both are pretty damn good phones! Thats why we are paying 300+ for them :) Although I am a samsung fan I could see myself getting either the 7400 and maybe the 5600 when it hits. Right now I am happy with my a700. Happy Tday folks

Having had both the a700 and the mm7400, i must say, the 7400 has blown me away. While the a700 is a good phone, there are a few things the 7400 has that surpasses my expectations with a phone, and makes me sway that way. I'll put it like this: a700 is up with its 1 megapixel cam, graphics (including menu options, etc.), and standard rings. The 7400, to me, has better resolution (at least on the phone) with personal video, longer video (up to 30secs), and the multimedia looks better. The a700 seemed a bit choppy to me. I think the a700's web was a hair faster, but hey, for what it's worth, they're both solid. The asr option on the 7400 is out of this world...as well as the caller id ringer...i feel like an extra in terminator 4, due to the available technology. Speakerphone...half or a quarter...i don't give a da*n...it works beautifully for me, and half the time, the person on the other end doesn't even realize they're on it. What i didn't like about the a700 is the self portrait camera/camcorder...yeah the lens rotated, but that didn't do much for pics that needed the flash. I took a picture with A.C. Slater ( :D ), but had to guesstimate with the absence of a screen to see if both of us were in the picture. 7400, just as other sanyos, pics can be taken with the phone closed, and a mirror image to adjust in. Changeable faceplates? I never thought i'd be that cosmetic with a phone, but uh...I'm waiting for the accessories to hit the stands at the sprint store. The 7400 "feels" more durable in my hand over the 700, and overall, I trust Sanyo a little bit more than Samsung. I know everybody gets a little funny over the earpiece issue, but truth be told, samsung does have a clearer sounding earpiece, but I'll choose an absence of dropped calls over that with the Sanyo. To each his/her own. a700 came out long before the 7400, hence the advancement in technology along with features with the 7400. That's just my two cents and a sip of water. Hope it helps.

Quick question. Does the mm7400 same flat charger as the vm4500?

I actually like the way it looks...

I like big phones...I really like the 7400's look, but I don't know about those faceplates...I think that I would have rather seen a fixed design...

Does everyone that has the a700 think that the 7400 is the better phone?

Had a Samsung A500 for 3 years and I finally got tired of it's lousy reception. In the San Francisco East Bay Area, I'm not too far from the nearest cell tower, yet in my house I had to go upstairs and to the south side of the house just to get reception! If I walked to the kitchen or living room the calls dropped every time. Sanyo has had a reputation for good signal reception, and that is the case with me. I can talk anywhere in my house and the calls don't drop and the other party hears me clear as a bell. Now maybe I can actually use those 2000 minutes.

I liked the Samsung otherwise, but the reception thing drove me to Sanyo.

While I'm here, does anyone know if you can use the MM7400 in speakerphone mode with the clamshell closed (I know you can in Readylink mode, but can you in "regular" mode)? I don't like having the speakerphone facing away from me when I have the phone open.

It looks like you'd have to change the option that closing the clamshell ends the call in order to do that; is there an easier way? Thanks!
