I was soooo bummed to find out that my new Treo 650 will not work with my 2004 Acura TL's built-in Bluetooth, despite it having the required "handsfree profile".
Does anyone have any idea if this is something that Sprint and/or PalmOne might be able to address via some sort of ROM upgrade?

Yes, it is, from what I read over at Treocentral.

Well, I figure Acura is unlikely to resolve this on their end (if in fact it even is an issue they can resolve) so I headed to PalmOne to submit a complaint. PalmOne directed any customer care issues regarding the Sprint Treo 650 to the Sprint PCS website. I left Sprint PCS an email addressing my concern with the Treo 650's inability to successfully pair with the Acura TL and my intentions of finding a new provider if it's not resolved. I suggest you all do the same and perhaps they'll address the issue sometime soon!

I'm getting the treo 650 next week and next year getting either the TL or the Prius. Anyone know if the 650 works in the newer 04 Prius'?

I have an 05 Acura MDX. It has the handsfree link. I was able to get the treo 650 to work partly. I can't get the hfl to dial but I was able to dial from the phone and use the car speakers and mic. People I talked to said they hear me very clear, just like a home phone. I was also able to receive calls with hfl. I'm sure Palmone or Sprint will come out with a patch. It's not Acura's problem I don't think. I'm going to try my friends phone with bluetooth from a different carrier to see.

No it doesn't work the the Prius. The following is a link to PriusChat that is one of many discussing the problem.

They seem to be counting on PalmOne to come out with a fix. Believe Treo Central forum has some info on this as well. I'm waiting for some sort of fix before investing in a 650. I tried to provide feedback to PalmOne's Bluetooth car kit site but it doesn't seem to be working....

The new patch on palmone.com for the 650 works great with Handsfree Link. However, I have to wake up the phone for it to link to the HFL. Is there a way around this since I don't want to turn on the screen everytime I step in the car?

There were only 2 phones that Sprint released that fully controlled a cars Bluetooth functions. They were the Telematic Timeport for Lexus and Mercedes. Good part is that they totally control the Blurtooth in the vehicle 100%. Bad part is that they stopped making them back in 99/2000. No other devices are guarenteed to be 100% compliant like the Timeports were.

Not even close to being accurate. The Telematics Timeports didn't have BT. Search next time.
The BT carkit update should fix all incompatibilities.

This is an old thread that got activated again, but to the original poster or anyone else. The support for Acura got put in the latest 1.12 firmware. Put this firmware on your Sprint Treo 650 and it should work.
Looks like in v1.12 they added support for the following cars.
Acura
Audi
BMW
Toyota (Prius)

I installed the new firmware (v1.31) on my Palm Treo 650, it seemed to pair okay with my Acura MDX & I made a call via the handsfree link. Now, though, when I go back into the car my phone keeps trying to connect & the handsfree link can't find it. Any ideas on what I could try to re-establish the connection?

Are there any Sprint blueooth phones that work well with the Acura TL? I'm considering buying one this week (the car, that is). Thanks.
