View Full Version : MM7400 use with BitPim??

Fierofiend

I just picked up my mm7400 today. I have BitPim loaded from my Sanyo 8100 with all my phonenumbers and that sort of thing. Does anyone know how I can get the phonebook onto my 7400? I need the drivers for the 7400.

If not bitpim, is there another program?

i used bitpim with my 8100 and more recently my 8200... once i got my 7400 i just tried it and it worked... maybe you should try installing the drivers for the 8200 (or sanyo in general)... i think i found some on the datapilot site... HTH

What phone did you tell BitPim that you had when you used it with the 7400? (My guess would be 8200).

When you read from the phone, does the assignment of phone number types turn out correct? (I.e., does a number labled as Mobile end up as Cell in BitPim, and similar for Home and Work.)

Have you tried both reading and writing to the phone with BitPim. (I would not write to the phone unless everything reads OK.)

i told bitpim i was using the 8100 (same as i had to do with the 8200), then had to choose the com port... it read from the phone (didnt notice anything unusual) & wrote to the appropriate slots as far as i can tell... now thats just with the phonebook... trying the same with images & ringers was unsuccessful...

If you tried to read the phonebook from an 8200 while BitPim is set to an 8100, it could not have worked. The protocols are too different. Reading ringers and pictures from an 8200 using the 8100 setting might work, but it is better to use BitPim's 8200 setting. Also I doubt that one could read the MM7400 phonebook using the 8100 setting. The 8200 setting might work.

I ask about this because I would like to add an MM7400 option to BitPim, but I need more information about the 7400 before doing so.

ur right, i am using the 8200 setting in bitpim... and like i said, it reads the phone book & writes to the 7400 but thats it.... no ringers or wallpaper...

If you try to read ringers and wallpaper from the 7400, using the PM-8200 setting of BitPim, what happens? Do you get an exception? If there is no exception, but no ringers or wallpaper show up in BitPim, do you have any ringers or wallpaper downloaded with Vision? On Sanyo phones, the builtin ringers are generally not available for download.

tried again... got it to read one ringer (a midi, not from sprint) and it found a wallpaper... the wallpaper i catually tried to send ot it yesterday and didnt think it sent because of the error/exception that came up so i didnt check... i do have some non-sprint ringers on the 7400 and bitpim as i said only found the 1 midi... i also tried sending some ringers & wallpapers to the 7400... spotty at best... however it did send but bitpim shows an exception error after transfer... so i guess it sorta works... wont read everything from the 7400 and doesnt always send everything u wanna send...

sent... looks like sending wallpapers 1 at a time may be the trick... i tried sending several at once and only 1 made it thru... sending a single wallpaper went thru but both cases ended with an exception error from BP...

Ok, I reinstalled the Sanyo 8100 drivers and tried again. I switched BitPim settings from SCP8100 to PM8200 and I am able to get all the images from my phone to the computer in one shot. However, I still get an error trying to access the phone book. Nothing happens when I try to get ringers.

Anything new here?

There was an updated Bitpim released on Dec. 15 which includes 7400 support. I just successfully transferred my sanyo 5300 contacts to my new MM7400. I cannot, however, get images or ringtones off my 5300-- limitation of the 5300, I guess, as it seems to work for all Sanyos released after the 5300.

I see the new Bitpim, but don't see 7400 listed in the documentation. Is the MM7400 an actual choice in the software?

I downloaded it because the version changes indicated MM-7400 support. I tried it and it does indeed work with the 7400, and there is an option for the 7400-- it's just not lumped with the other Sanyos because it starts with MM instead of P or S. I've uploaded my phone book / contacts from my 5300 as well as downloaded pictures from the 7400-- seems to work fine.

Hi Sloanie

Which data cable are you using ? Is it from Futuredial ?

Hrmph...which cable are you using? I have a Future Dial cable and am using the 8200 drivers but it doesn't seem to be working at all. I get a "cannot connect to phone" error on the phonebook and a "unexpected exception" on all the others. I am going to play around some more.

Which version of the FutureDial drivers are you using?

I meant I am using the 8100 drivers on the MM7400. The modem works (I can dial a vision connection) but nothing in Bitpim seems to work. It does have the right COM port but gives different error messages depending on which data I am trying to extract.

Sloanie, do you have more detailed information on your setup?

Thanks...

....also, when you guys are transfering pics to the phone, what resolution is BitPim converting it to? (176x220 or 132x144)

I'm having the same problem.

Sorry in advance for the long post. Here is some specific error information:

I am using a FutureDial cable with a Sanyo MM7400. FutureDial drivers were installed for the 8100 (Vision and DUN work) and Bitpim 0.7.23 is configured to use the MM7400. When I "view filesystem" I can drill into things but don't know what any of it means:
