Guys, if you are even slightly considering this device, I highly recommend you pull the trigger NOW! The 650 is absolutely incredible. I tried the 600 when it first came out...and returned it the same day. I received my 650 yesterday and let me tell you, this baby ain't goin' anywhere!
I will post a review and pics on Sunday when I get home.

Optimized view minimizes horizontal scrolling and makes content fit the small screen. Wide screen view provides the familiar interface of a desktop web browser.
I believe you browse them all.

I purchased the 600 prior a few months ago, and I ended up returning it a couple days later. It was a nice pohone with a nice feel but it lacked a lot especially for the money that was spent on it. One thing that disappointed me about the 600 was the screen resolution was 3,300 color only. the resolution was worse than the Sanyo 4900, which was 4,096 colors. And the big limitations on ringtones. I couldn't just play anything. The polyphonic was 8-bit. and also the battery life really SUCKED! I went back to CompUSA and said that I wanted to return it and they asked why. The battery life was my biggest Gripe. and they said just don't use it as much. And I told the guy that I just spent $500 on this phone. I didn't spend that much money to just have the ability to talk, I am expecting to do a whole lot more. I want to take advantage of the features and such. He looked at me and just starred like he didnt know what to say..
Now from the specs that I've been looking at for the 650 Look MUCH BETTER and I am considering this phone as well now. One thing that I wanted to know was the quality of the ringtones. Is it much better than 8-bit? I was thinking that you could play the really nice ringtones like you can on the Sanyos because I seen that the 650 will play MP3's, but then again I'm not sure? I noticved that the battery life and such is HELLA MORE! So in short I'm pretty revved up about this phone. :-)

MIDIs sound the same from what I've heard, but it can play QCPs and AMR ringtones (like a voice ringer I suppose).

I'm still speechless about the phone, I can only show my pictures for now, I'll do a review later. I already threw away box and return labels. Got me a bluetooth headset also. My "Precious" needs a case for protection. :)

does the new resolution screen look super amazing?
Yes. It has the same pixel density as the Toshiba QVGA screen. The Toshiba is 320x240 and the 650 is the same physical height, but wider and has a resolution of 320x320.

Sprint charges an extra $15 for PocketPC phones, but so far Palm PDA phones are same Vision charge as any other phone, I believe.

It also comes with a built in recorder so you can record ringers, I also just made a ringer from an mp3 converted to QCP and it's pretty good.

I read a bunch of threads about the memory issues at treocentral. There are some people returning there phone becasue of it. Is it that big of a deal? I probally won't have a issue with it but since it's a exspensive phone I just want to make the right dececison.

I had one of those blacberrys before its release. Some really cool features. The way it had a activity log arranged by date was really nice. But I didn't like not having a full keyboard. The speaker phone did not get loud enough to use in a car. Charging from a standard usb cable was cool. The 7100 does not run Palm OS have a touch screen and no camera. As I remember the screen was not good in sunlight (but I had a beta unit and the production units may be better). If you are with t-mobile than the phones are not comparable because the 7100 is 1/3rd the price (you have to buy an unlocked 650 for 600 bucks and you can get a 7100 for 200 on your plan).
I liked the treo's features much better (full keyboard, camera, palm os) which is why I have one on order.
In the CONTACTS function on the Treo 650 does it keep track of a photo and birthdate like the regular Palm PDAs?

i got my 650 today and wow. i am impressed.
camera is so much bettr quality. the mirror is nice to have too. the video recorder is great.
the keyboard is much nicer. bigger and flatter keys make it much easier to type. also it lights up so bright and easy to see in dark.
screen is awesome. so much more crisp than the 600. when i compare both, i think my treo 600 is junk. how could they put a screen like that in first place.
the bluetooth is awesome. i love it with my headset. the headset actually knows when the phone call ends and turns off automatically. real cool. i cant wait till my bluetooth laptop arrives for syncing and file transfers. and one daym dial up networking. (which is actual explained on the 650 as a way to use bluetooth.)
new buttons added are great. processor is nice and quick. and the easy shortcut icons on the bottom of the screen is easy to use.
the browser is a lot cooler. nicer design. and the pages look so much better in this resolution.
whats cool is i can send multiple pictures at one time to someones phone. i also like the zoom option too.
negatives
i dont like the versamail too much. i use it with aol and it seems to be taking too long to get my mail. maybe i need to figure out a better way to set it up but for me it seems annoying. i prefer the aol application i got from aol, which is great.
also need to figure out real player. and it seems we can use windows media player on it too? it came on the cd. beware most of those applications on the cd are just trials.
be careful when you first set it up if you are switching from a treo 600. the software on my treo 650 went crazy and i had to hard reset and rearrange my backup folder . i did it with the tier 2 sprint rep. lots of older apps dont work so well on 650.
i also didnt like the basic version of docs to go. i had the full version on my 600 and now i cant figure out how to get it on the 650. or if it will even work on it. i noticed docs to go has a nicer new look.
anyways, i feel there is much more positive than negative. it truly is a great upgrade.

Regarding Real Player on the 650, you might wish to investigate Pocket Tunes. It is a much better mp3 player than RP.

I think the ringer types are MIDIs, QCPs, and AMR (some type of WAV file I think... also uses this format so you can record your voice and use it as a ringer).
Does the 650 come with a Grafitti type/handwriting recognition application so that you can write direct on the screen? Plus have you been able to add custom ringers and wallpaper without any problems
Thanks much for the info!!! :D

bad news friends
after being so excited with this phone, i hate to say i am not happy. this crazy thing keeps crashing and i need to hard reset each time and than when i sync back my info it crashes again. this device is very very sensitive to many things and the hard part is figuring out what the heck it is thats causing the crashes. what happens is it starts its normal boot up where u see the palm one logo and than the second palm logo appears, but it will keep cycling those over and over.
just so you know, this is what happened to me the very first thing out of the box when trying to set up the software for syncing. i even did it with the teir 2 support and they were shocked how crazy it was going.
any ideas?

It happened before you put your Treo 600 software on? You tried the "hold up button while powering on" trick?

Sounds like you may have software that you installed that's causing it.. I know I had a button manager software that killed it like that.. Once I removed that, it works fine now..

My 650 keeps on crashing too. It started crashing right out of the box. :( The camera and all is awesome, but I the crashing is a MAJOR negative - especially for a $599 device. Only about a week ago, I finally got sprint to allow me to return my buggy Samsung MM-A700 and (after paying the $200 difference) they sent me out the new Treo.
All I can say is that I'm not impressed that such an expensive device could crash so often. Even Windows 95 didn't crash THIS much. :(
Every other time I try to use the Blazer browser, the Treo crashes and then reboots itself.

my treo did the same thing. right out of the box afterinstalling software, crashing like crazy. the way i settled it was, i removed everyhthing that had to do with palmone/handspring from my old treo 600. than i installed the treo 650 cd and did it like as if it were the first treo ever that i have used. tgis worked fine. the problem was, it must have confused and i think it synced some of my old treo 600 files and they werent compatible. i have it working fine but i realized last time it was my aol application that would crash while i ised it. so i removed it. it was aol 3.2 but now i heard aol 3.2.1 works better for treo. so i tried it and it was working fine yesterday until, bam, it crashed again. i will try it once more and if its aol, than i will be done with aol until they get a new version for the treo 650. whats sucks is, i hate when it crashed b/c the only way to get it running again is a hard reset. mine keeps running the start up screens over and over again. is this what happens to you

When you set a speed dial in the favorites how do you set a number? I know you can put a letter in. Kind of stinks that you can only put one number/letter. I read at tc how you can just push the space bar when the speed dial favorite is highlighted and all the numbers for that contact will show up.
Do you have to go to palms website and download the voice dial? When I try to download form palm software it says bad file.
I'm used to my 700 just being able to scroll down and press the ok button to enter the page on the web. Since I'm a newbie I'm not sure about the web on the 650. Which one is better optimized or widepage? Which settings should I change so the page shows up quicker. I think I like the text being larger since it's darker than the smaller text.
How do you check the memory?
Thanks

The problem with the cycling crashes (I've figured it out), is that the old "system" type software from your old palm device is being installed from your backup folder (unless you change HotSync IDs). If you remove all of the "system" files, then it should sync up fine. We did that with my mothers last nite, and it worked fine. Before when we didn't remove the "System" files, it did the crash thing, and it was my old Treo that worked fine.

obviously there are much more good things about the 650 than the 600, but 2 things ive noticed that are better on the 600 is 1st the speakerphone on the 600 is louder and clearer. is it true the 650 only has half duplex?
also the buttons seem to lag. for example. my 600 and the speed dial numbers were always responsive right away. always dialed within a second. the 650 most of the time seems to be much longer to respond to the buttons being push like speed dial or other buttons being pushed. anyone else notice these things?

Yea I noticed the lag when calling out from your contacts. The screen goes white for a sec or 2 then dials out. Speed dials seem a tad faster. I tried it with a contact that was in my quicklist and still got the lag. It seems that there is no lag when you just dial the number out or call log numbers. It's not that big of a deal to me but I would think it could be fixed with a software upgrade.

As far as the Screen Resolution on the 650, the 650 has about 65,536 colors or around that number. The 600 had only 3,300 colors. The toshiba however has over 262,000 colors, so the color and stuff is much better on the Toshiba. I would still get the 650 though regardless, just as long as it isnt like the 600.
