I rec'd my 650 today (gotta love the brown truck). However I have never owned any type of palm device. Is the device "always" on?
What I mean is if you hold the red power key it seems to turn the phone function on and off. My question is how do you turn the actual device off. If you can't turn the device off, isn't this going to be a power drain. When I would charge a cell phone, I would turn it off. If this device remains always"on", should I at least turn the phone function off when I charge? TIA for your replys helping a newbie!

It's always on... The screen is the only thing you can turn on and off. But it goes off by itself after a set time anyway.

Mine is coming tomorrow. I printed the manual and on page 28 it says to press the power/end key to turn the phone on or off.

On page 33 & 34 it says the same to turn the screen on or off.

When you press the power/end key how do you know if you are turning the phone or the screen on or off?

When you tap the button, the screen goes off, and thats it. When you hold the button down, you get an animation and a series of graphics that inform you that wireless mode is turned off.

This was less confusing on the 600, because there were two seperate buttons for each function.
