Hey, great site. I'm glad I found it with this problem I'm having... I recently purchased a DataCable from an online store. This cable says it's compatible with Sanyo 4900,5300,8100,8200. This was a great deal and couldn't pass it up. I have a San8100 and am looking to connect via BitPim.
My problem is when I plug in the datacable I don't get the XP sound of "new hardware attached" or anything in device manager that'd suggest I've even hooked it up. I installed the drivers that came with the cable before trying to attach the cable/phone. Now I'm lost as far as where to proceed. Any tips for the new guy?

For one thing, the phone must be plugged into the cable too.

Figured that was implied... I know how this should work, just don't know why it isn't.

My dad has the 8100 and uses bitpim. (This is trying to remember back a while), but I think it came down to he had to open bitpim with the phone turned off, but connected, then after bitpim was open turn the phone on. This was with an older version of bitpim, so it may have changed, but that is how he got bitpim to work with his phone. Worth a try anyway.
