I'm trying to help my sister. She has sprint psc and a samsung phone. She doesn't know the exact model and it doesn't say on her phone.

I put a couple of mp3 ringers on a personal web site. I downloaded them to my T-mobile phone, no problem.

I went to the URL but when made a selection to download I received an error 404.

Does sprintpcs not accept mp3 downloads from misc. URLs?

Do I need to use a usb cable to upload them?

If her phone does not support mp3 ringers, its a no go. if it does, then try using a data cable. its the phone, not sprint. Could you maybe find a picture of the phone and post it or just say the model number?

It a sph-a620, samsung I think.

Also changing the mp3 to a .qcp, if I can find software to do that, does it degrade the sound or is it a similar type stream. I don't want midi quality, that is lame.

Ace, it seems you have the same phone as she does, the a620.

Is the problem mp3 vs. qcp or a web based problem? When I try to download the mp3 files I get an http error 404, browswer will not accept...,, something. But the same web page can be accessed by my laptop and my v600.

I don't get it. Do you use a usb cable to transfer to you a620? Or the web.

What sw do you use to convert mp3 to qcp?

my 620 is actually my wifes phone now but it was mine before that....its not a web based problem its just that these phones are not mp3 compatable...do a search on here and there is a thread that tells you how and what software to use to convert to qcp and once the qcp file is made i use the focus tool from this site to upload it to my phone(i do have a data cable for it i just dont use it)....its kind of a long process to do it but after a few times it doesnt take long at all just be prepared to notice the loss of volume and quality in the ringer....the volume is low and depending on the song sometimes it tough to hear what it is.. i ve done a ton of them for the a620 and my vm4500 ...i personally perfer midi's just for volume purposes.....

The qcp file format is not nearly as good as mp3? The reason I don't use midi is because they all have thta same synthesized sound. Will this be true of the mp3 files that I convert to qcp? I tried a demo that converted (alledgedly) mp3 to midi. It was a joke. I'm not even sure I could recognized it as the same song.

I have tried a million different things.. Nothing can come close to reproducing an MP3 in midi format.. You can get like one instrument things and it still sucks.. Its pretty much imposibble and always will be
