Yeah, if you want a simple RL phone without a camera, this seems to be great...especially considering it's full-duplex speakerphone...

i think 229 is a decent prize for what it offers

i currently have a motorola v60v and im lucky i got it on ebay cuz if i didnt, i would have had to pay close 270 dollars for a basic phone that offers no speakerphone and basically nothing else lol

I played with the 760 tonight, and was really dissapointed in it. The speakerphone wasn't very loud, and it was quite distorted at full volume. The reception was awful too... where my 8200 had 3 bars, the 760 had none, and took about ten tries to connect. Maybe it was a beta phone, but you'd think that the samsung rep would actually have something that worked.

Ok. I recieved the a760 this morning. So far, it is a keeper. Although the speakerphone is not as loud as my 7300, it is clearer and full duplex. I have not tested the reception yet, but I intend to later on this evening.

IMO the UI os much more usuer friendly than the Sanyo 7300. It is also very small...smaller than my wife's 8200. I will write a full review later.

I am working on pics as we speak.

As for RL, it seems to respond faster than my 7300. There are multiple RL tones you can choose from as well. The reception on the phone is solid, as is the reception on my 7300.

The only thing I do not like is that the earpiece isnt as loud as my 7300 (7300 is very loud).

It has a voice feature that you dont have to teach...works well I must add.

The voice message deal is not what I expected...when you send someone a message, the person on the other end gets a text message saying dial a number to hear your message...
Anyways, I will play with it some more, and review it more.

So far, the size, UI, and clarity is making it a keeper for me.

Not as loud as nextel...not as loud as sayno either. My wife told me that she heard me clearly on her end when using RL, and I heard her clearly as well. I will have to say that it is as clear as Nextel, but not as loud.

Would you say it's a issue not loud like you really wouldn't hear it in a crowded room or it's just not blarring loud.

Got an a760 on Friday, so far has been great. Speakerphone is very good. Not real loud, but that's alright with me. If I need it THAT loud, I probably shouldn't be using it anyways. I have had my fiance on speakerphone several times and she hasn't even known she's been on speakerphone, which I think is very good. I'm not a big RL user, bgut a buddy of mine tried it out and said it was clearer than his VM4500. All in all, I am very happy with the phone.

I like the look of the new UI...

Is the browser the same as in the A700...?

To be honest, I'm not sure what revision (browser-wise) the A700 is running off the top of my head. To me, it appears to be the same browser as the A680, but that's just an educated guess.

The UI is actually kinda childish looking...there's a 3x3 grid view that's just ridiculous looking to me. When you highlight an icon, it blows it up so largely that you can barely see the other icons. The normal list view is pretty good, but there's a huge color trend towards neon green and purple, which just isn't the world's greatest color combination.

That being said, the screen is really very nice...it's STN, but it's hard to tell. In fact, it's considerably better than the VI660 screen, and nearly as good as the A680's, which I've always thought was pretty solid.

I like everything about the phone except the style...the ringtones (including real tones) are smooth, the screen is nice, the ReadyLink implementation is really well done...all in all, a decent phone. But the style is driving me nuts, and I definitely am not going to be keeping it...

So it supports mp3 ringers...?

No, I think it just supports AAC format, as a lot of the newer Sprint phones seem to be doing now. Granted, I haven't tried a straight MP3 rip, but it has a sample "Music Tone" on it that appears to be AAC. Were I keeping the device, I imagine I'd test it out more, but like I said, it's just not doing it for me in general. But the ring tones do sound very nice, and quite loud, for those curious...

The only thing I like about the voice message dial is that you can send it to someone's email address. It sends a link that, when clicked, plays your voice message over the computer. Other than that, it is not impressive.

As for reception, it is slightly better than my 7300. My 7300 will go into roam before my a760. However, this may differ for others depending on area. I have had numerous Samsungs, and this one has the best reception IMO.

can't handle the colorful UI...?

LOL...no, no, I actually like colorful UI's, believe it or not. They give a phone visual interest and help to maintain *my* interest in a handset. I do hate that the phone trends towards neon purple/gree, though...believe me when I say it's kind of obnoxious to look at for extended periods of time.

No, the reason I'm not going to keep it is because it doesn't really offer me much that I don't already have on my 7300. I *LOVE* that you can not only redial the last person who called, but also everyone in your call list, without ever having to open the flip. The Sanyo can't do that, and that is imminently useful.

But that's about the only thing. Everything else is similar, and I favor the styling of the Sanyo, so I think I might just take the ole' A760 back to the store. But I'm not knocking it...it's a very good phone for the short period of time I've had it!

Sounds like a great phone...

Reception, UI, features...

I'll have to check it out at the store to see it

This phone is gonna fly off the shelves, especially at that price believe it or not MOST people just want a simple phone. I applaud samsung for not forcing everyone into a phone that has 9000 different features at the $400 price tag in order for it to be new.

I got mine in a Chicagoland store on Monday, so yeah, there's at least SOME stores that already have 'em. I get tired of messing with Telesales, and so I wait for 'em to pop up in-store. Thankfully, I've got a store nearby that seems to *always* get phones earlier than most, so I luck out. Go figure.

The main product page has nothing, but you CAN order it

SprintUsers.com was created in January 2002 as a resource for users of Sprint PCS products and services to learn about and share information. We have cll phone reviews, Cellular Accessories, Downloads, PDA reviews, Ringtones, all of the latest Sprint PCS news and information, an area where you can find help in creating a ring tone or custom image for you phone, and so much more. The most popular section is the message board where visitors can read and write messages, ask questions, and get advice about their cellular phone from other users.
