Uh....is this thing the ugly or what?? It slides open to reveal more screen, not the keypad?? Doesn't look too purdy, what do you people think?

beats me. i don't trust LG for phones (my personal opinion, before anone gives their two cents) - they do make good CD Writers, though.

Personally, I think that it's a smart phone design. Have you noticed how other sliders have a huge screen that is very suceptible to damage. With this one, the screen is recessed from the frame and opens to reveal a larger screen. Less likely to damage the screen and also if you're worried about pushing buttons accidentally, I would hope that they include key guard. Not sure about that, will just have to wait and see when the phone does come out.

I am sure whoever wrote the add got it confused with the upcoming LG 535 http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/readnews.php?id=592

Just wish they would release this so I can replace my third dead, POS T608.

The only advantage i see of the slider design is for quick access to info. Otherwise... Make mine a flip. I don't care about scratches on my screen... I used protectors on my candy bar phones... I do care about having to use a keypad lock or having my phone dial while in my pocket. VIVE LA FLIP

I'd still take the external keypad in order to have Bluetooth, and an INTERNAL antenna. :woohoo:

BTW - When does this ad go national? When can we get the damned phone!?

So wait, there is going to be this 325, and a LG 535?? This one has the external keypad and the 535 has the internal keypad?? I'm so confused!!! Help me out people...will this 325 have a QVGA screen? I don't remember too many people talking about this 325...

This might be a dumb question but is there bluetooth headsets available for the 325 now? Ballpark cost of one and how long do the batteries last?

I know Sprint is supposed to start selling them with a package deal with the phone

any bluetooth headset will work with the phone. you can find them from $20-$150. battery time lasts from 3-6 hours.

This might be another dumb question but I have never used a bluetooth phone. I'm thinking if I get it I will be using my phone more exspecially in my car. Is there any more health risk using a bluetooth headset a lot compared to a cell phone.

Did the ad come in the mail or was it an insert in the local newspaper?

I'll dig through our daily paper here and check the mailbox when I get home tonight.

D'oh! I tossed all the junk mail into the recycling last night when I got home from work. Great, now I gotta fish it out.

Or just go to the Shack near my office. Well, we'll see which is easier. :hee:

I wouldn't buy that phone. I'd wait for the Audio Vox phone, which doesn't have blue tooth support natively, but does come in blue. (Also comes in Silver)

I'm not sure how this phone will compete using anything other than its (ugly) design.

Advantages for the Audio Vox phone:

-It's a flip phone
-It's an Audio Vox phone
-It's not an LG phone
-It has 2 screens, not one
-It comes in blue
-It has a camera flash
-It has a classy metal-esque ring around the camera (which makes it look like a real digicam)

...also if its built by Curitel, it may as well have printed on the back "Mattel" or "Hasbro".

from the pictures I've seen on phonescoop I'm worried about dialing phone numbers with the full screen. It looks like it would be top heavy and dialing with the full screen open will give you some awkward tactile key presses. Oh well we'll see. At least it has BT and it isn't a brick.

-Flips are tired. The slider is the "new thing".
-Uh... have you used a CURITEL phone? 8920 sucks... I know. I used one.
-It's not an Audiovox phone...that alone makes it rock.
-Uhh...
-So does the LG
-OK, so it has a flash, so what? Flash is overrated on a camera phone.
-Uhh... it's a phone. It's a phone first, camera next...besides, it's probably just shiny plastic.
-It has BlueTooth! Could this be why people want this phone? Yeah!

I stoped by radio shack today in columbus ohio and the manager thought it won't be in untill december. I guess the add is a little early. :(

Deval why don't you ask your shack contact and see if this is true.

thanks

cant be then, because the flyer is for the entire month of november, so it has to be by then...I bet we will start seeing it within a week or so

What they told me (and of course take this with a grain of salt) in the Shack near my office -- yeah, I stopped and picked up a flyer cuz I'm a geek -- is that they expect it in within 10 days. The manager said it's in the ad, but not yet in their computer system, but should be soon.
I'm wanting to play with this phone...I'm thinking I'll get it for the hubby when I port him over...maybe. I dunno.

Well, I have the flyer. Yay.

Bluetooth is a couple milliwatts (not sure exactly how many, at most 20) and digital cell phones are up to 200mW, so no a bluetooth headset is not more of a health risk than using a normal headset. Also it hasn't been established that cell phone radiation is any sort of health risk at all. None of the studies that have shown it to be a health risk were thorough enough (did not have a proper control group, etc.) and also most likely much of the information was based on analog phones which are 600mW constant transmit power.

I had no idea but just thought maybe cell phones have more of a shield for some reason. I know I use my vision a lot now that it is unlimited and probally will be using a bluetooth headset in the car more, it just makes me wonder if there any more health risks. I don't know but I don't think there has been long term studies.

no, cell phones usually don't have any sort of radiation shielding. The most they do is angle the antenna away from your head so you're getting less direct exposure.
From a scientific and physics standpoint, there's no evidence that microwave radiation with that kind of power has any health effects. The only thing it'll really do is heat stuff up, and 20-200 mW isn't going to do any appreciable heating.

There is certainly appreciable heating due to cell phones, especially in children. All of the scans that I've seen how minimal, localized heating in adults but large amounts of heating in children/adolescents.

Any chance we could have an email-list, and have an email sent as soon as the 325 is available? Who would know first? Think SprintPCS would have something like this? Some companies offer such a service. They may have a link on their site "alert me with updates for this item," or something like that.

Anyone here have the ability and does anyone have the first-hand connections to be "in-the-know" enough to know the moment it's available?

I'd post my SprintPCS email if someone would set up a list. :)

Its been shipped. Some Radio Shacks have started selling them already. Check yours locally. They have had it in their monthly flier for sale thru Nov 30. Maybe your local store can call you when they are in, that would be the easiest thing I believe.

Radiation. The contact heating would be almost nil.

Depends where you're measuring. Contact heating on the ear would be magnitudes greater than radiation heating. Do you remember the source that said there was significant radiation heating in children?
