I just received my copy of eWeek in the mail and there is an article about PalmOne releasing the Treo 650 this week at a press conference. Unfortunately, at the end of the article it also states that Sprint PCS reps have confirmed that it will not be avil;able on Sprint right away.
That's it, I think I am going to switch to Verizon... Sprint's reception has gone downhill lately in San Francisco and even in Philly. I used to be able to get great reception inside of buildings, elevators, etc, but not anymore. Last year I was told by a senior management rep that they would give me Free and Clear America for free. Now they say no and they want to increase my already high 78$ bill to include that service.
If someone can give me a good reason why Sprint would delay this phone, why their service has gone down hill and why I should stay, I would be very happy.
we all know Verizonb and (now possibly Cingular) have great reception and larger variey of phones.
Change my mind people ......

Sprint will be the first carrier to have the 650. You can switch to Verizon...but they will still release it after sprint does.
In my area (Los Angeles/Orange Co) Verizon reception is so so..and cingular is laughable. I get better reception in more places downtown than anybody that I work with.
But if sprint isnt working for you, go with what does.

Central California here and do traveling all around the state and have no reception problems. Sprint tech told me 2 days ago that they will have them in 2 wks. Are you that desperate for the Treo 650 that you want to switch carriers? Get a grip.

I know the Treo 650 is exclusive to Sprint until the early part of next year......

Sprint has the clearest connection with the fewest (if any) dropped calls of all the other providers. I know several others that have ATT, Verizon, and Cingulair and they all have problems with there service. I have convinced several others to switch to Sprint and they can't believe the difference in sound quality and service. If you are going to use the internet at all, Sprint has the best and cheapest data plans. The others charge outrageous prices for their internet. Why have the awsome 650 without internet access? No service is perfect, but Sprint is by far the best in todays market!

I would have to echo everyone's thoughts. My wife's mom has GSM on AT&T and has nothing but problems. She tried calling here yesterday and she dropped 3 times. I got rid of SBC and just use my cell phone at home and so do wife and kids and we have no problems.

Ok, I guess you all have convinced me to wait a while longer. Maybee the eWeek article is incorrect (I sure hope so). I have been a failry happy Sprint customer for over 7 years. However, Like I stated in my original post, it seems as though the service has gone down hill lately especially in San Francisco. Part of the problem is that people like to fight the installation of toweres here, Secondly, I called up a few weeks ago to complain, had my 5300 tested (it passed all tests) and all tey could do was tell me I need to buy a new phone.... So, although I love my Sanyo, i really need a Treo right now and if Sprint does delay it beyond December, I may be forced toswitch, possibly to pre-pay until Sprint gets their act together.
Up until earlier this year Sprint did have the bnest sounding network and decent coverage. Howeve, that has changed lately and I can't , of course, get any kind of straight answer out of Sprint. I am also peeved because it seems as though they are unwilling to offer me a competatively proced/feature full plan, as At&T/Cingular and Verizon seem to offer. I really do not want to leave Sprint and I agree they have the most affordable data plan. But they need to do more in regards to customer service for a longtime customer.
I won't even get into the fact that I sp-ent upwars of 60 hours i the Sprint store last year with my crappy LG 5350 and another 4 hours on the phone until they finally upgradedme to the Sanyo.
I am hoping that you are all correct and that things will get better and that Sprint will carry the Treo before December.
Peace Out. :hee:

Well as I said I work on the ambulance and do transfers up to UCSF all the time and have great reception. I live in the Central Valley and also have no problems. Probably is your phone.
