Moderators don't read some Threads very carefully, but a thread was "closed" titled (10-25-04) AT&T /Cingular Deal Approved as in the FCC and directed it to the (10-24-04) Justice Department Thread from yesterday. Not the same area of Government and not really the same area of discussion. Would it have hurt to leave the thread open? We have 5000 threads on the Sanyo 8200 or the 5500, but no one closes those!
Dave: Please give your Moderators some instruction. That closed thread was of interest to many of us today! This was big business news on National TV and Radio Today as of 3pm eastern time! Why can't we talk about it in a new updated thread?

Actually, the thread that you mentioned was closed because it just said it was approved and not by whom. Since there was a thread already in progress that had mentioned, in great detail, that it was approved by the Justice dept, it was assumed to be a duplicate thread. If the thread that was closed had mentioned something different, like the FCC, I am sure it wouldnt have been taken down. But that person failed to include any pertinent information whatsoever about the subject. Go re-read them both and let us know.

I did and you are correct to an extent. Poor writing skills on many persons behalf when opening threads! However, for those following this story, I knew what the person ment when he opened the thread. The old thread about the Justice department was pertaining to the courts and their ruling yesterday. I still am annoyed that we can have 200 threads about the Sanyo 8200 and the 5 colors it comes in or "My 5500 is Redialing" kind of threads. Two of At&t / Cingular merger threads and we are in LOCK DOWN CODE RED mode!
Come on guys!

Alot of threads are closed due too many different reasons. What is not of interest to you might be of interest to someone else. Several threads about 5500's and 8200's have been closed. I think you need to relax and understand that your interests is not the only one on this forum. With that said until you mod one day on this forum I would suggest you realize that many mods get 30 to 40 emails a day reporting and requesting various operations to be perform so go a little easy on this thankless job....Your understanding is appreciated.

May I also suggest that you request a mod application?? :D

That would be great! How does one go about doing just that?
Thanks for understanding and listening. I would like to be involved as a moderator.

The 1st two links appear to be identical, and the "444" one was posted 1st and had several more responses, so I closed the "473" one. The "371" one is still open but appears to be discussing the same info as the "444" thread.
