If you are trying to connect with a phone connected that is not supported by Bitpim, you have royally messed things up. However, if your phone is supported by Bitpim as listed, then it is an OS issue. Try it on another computer and you will see it magically work.

i got it to work with an older version..i think its 7.16...i dont know if its the older version but why does it transfer my pics as PNG files. and it looks like theres no way to transfer animations and qcp files. is it just bitpim or the version im using.

I don’t know. You need to check compatibility. Not all functions of all phones are supported with Bitpim and you can lock up your phone and have to wipe the phone to get it working again.

If you want FULL functionality then you can purchase SnapSYNC and SnapMEDIA and save yourself all the headaches.

I'm using version 0.7.18 but the most current version is 0.7.20 and yeah I can get my calander items, .jpg's, ringers (I only have voice ringers that aren't midi)

Yeah I have no problems at all, where with snap sync I have many issues. I've never used SnapMedia though.

I have a 7300 and for some reason bitpim also changes all of my graphics to PNGs, and it resizes them to the incorrect resolution for my screen  . I can download JPGs in the correct resolution directly through Sprint Vision, and then use bitpim to transfer them from the phone to the PC. Right after the transfer, bitpim will keep it as a JPG of the correct resolution. But if I save it to my hard drive and then reload it back into bitpim, it changes to a PNG and is reduced in size :(

Bitpim and Snapmedia both seem to only do MIDI ring tones (this is according to Futuredial's web site, I have not actually tried Snapmedia). If you want anything else it looks like we have to go through Vision to download them.

I have had no problems with bitpim as far as downloading my phone book and calander.

Try updating to the current version of bitpim. like I said before I have had no problem with qcp files and such. As far as jpg's resolution being changed I've never run into a problem either. I don't usually mess with PNG's so for that I couldn't say

I don't usually mess with PNG's so for that I couldn't sayI'm using Bitpim 0.7.20 which I'm pretty sure is the latest version. I can take a 6K 132 X 176 (which is the correct resolution for my phone) .jpg and load it into Bitpim for transfer to my phone. But Bitpim automatically changes it to a 28K 132 X 144 .png file. Note that it changes to the wrong resolution and actually makes the file larger by changing it to the .png instead of just leaving it as a .jpg.

BitPim converts images to PNG for Sanyo phones because that is the only file type that is accepted for cable uploads. Also, pictures uploaded over the cable are limited to a lower vertical pixel count than vision downloaded images. The developers don't have access to a 7300, so the 132x144 is just a guess.

If you want to experiment with the image size, find the picture you are uploading in the bitpim data directory (wallpaper subdirectory) and replace that image with a png file with a different resolution. If you find that a larger image can be uploaded over the cable, then let the BitPim developers know.
