either a digital dual-band CDMA/1xRTT or a GSM/GPRS/EDGE quad-band world phone

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Why don't they make a friggin TRIMODE version with analog?

GSM version sounds nice though.

Have any of Sprint's Smartphones or PDA phones been tri-mode?

I have a feeling the i550 will be better than the treo650 at least in my book. I don't think it'll have bluetooth, but the flip, video and picture, and analog capabilities will make it great, assuming they keep all those features.

I'm with you on that one, Merlyn_3D. As much as I like the Palm OS (I have a Tungsten C), I really hate the candybar form factor of the Treo.
And I have zero need for BT at this point, so the i550 would certainly satisfy my convergence needs...nine months from now when I'm eligible for a rebate. But, who knows what kind of fanciful technology I'll have in my life next summer? I may change my tune entirely by then.
In the meantime, I'm looking forward to the i550. But, I'm glad that Sprint will offer a BT PDA phone if only to satisfy those who want that.
