This week has just been weird...... Everyday, I had atleast two customers with a Samsung phone broken in two. Vi660, VGA 1000, A460....

Basicly they will come into my store looking for refurbs, because there phone is in two. The Screen in one hand, and the dial pad in another......

Anyone else seeing alot of this lately?

What do you do? Throw them out of the store, or give them refurbs?

Usually we just find some kind of solution depending on the individual's problems. There just aren't enough refurbs to go around....

My store usually only has about 2 in stock.....

Interesting... I remember this supposedly being a problem with some Sanyo models

All flips can break. It's not a problem for just one phone manufacturer.

I was just noticing that all I had been seeing lately was broken samsungs, with the same problem, some kind of crack has caused the phone to split in two. I've seen customers come in before with broken Sanyos... Sure.... But this last week, all i have seen is Samsungs, and alot of them......

Anyone else noticing this, or is my store just getting attacked with pissed off Samsung owners?

Did any of them say how it happened? Were any of their answers so stupid you wanted to just laugh in their face?

Being on the consumer side of this equation, I can state with some confidence that the old Samsung 3500's did have a weak hinge. My wife treats her phone with kidgloves, but watched as small cracks developed along the hinge joint of the phone, until the cracks ended up going all the way through (although her wires still worked for the most part. She used it for a month that way until she found another model she liked.

Mine (another 3500) also failed at the hinge, but the wires gave way before the plastic. Speaker just started cutting out, but I could get it to work if I held the flip just a bit closed. Made use a PITA, but it also held me though until I could get another.

Working at the shack I have my share of stories. One in particular stands out in my mind. A customer comes in with a VI660 broken in two like is described above. He talks to one of the associates and says, "I just flipped it open and it broke." I looked at the phone myself and interjected that it takes more than a flip open to break that phone. I even demonstrated it on my dummy phone. I said it takes some force. He proceeded to get shirty with me and ask me if I'm calling him a liar. So a week later his nasty wife comes in with the same thing demanding a new phone and explaining to me about how it just broke when it was flipped open. I told her the same thing and that if she has no insurance on the phone she has to buy a new one. She then proceeded to tell others not to buy Sprint and harass my customers. I told her to get out and she kept demanding a new phone. I said I can't do that because I value my employment. She then threw the phone at me and I proceeded to get ready to call the police, but she left in a hurry. Haven't seen her or her husband since.

See I never get the fun cutomers like that..... I'd love to just tell somone to get with it... Usually they will either buy the refurb, or mumble something nasty about Sprint under their breathe and leave.

Doesn't anyone realize this is how all cellualar companies work.
