Just bought a mm700, dig the phone dont like the fact you can't take pics or vids with phone closed, locks up every now and then, wish it had more memory. Dont know if this dictates taking it back, within 14 days. So my question is, what phones are soon to be released that have the hi res display, 1+ M.P camera, MORE MEMORY, or removable slot, and before christmas? Another topic says new software is out, but dunno if it will address the picture problem? Oh yeah, and nunable to assign downloaded pics as sublcd screen saver? What does everyone think?

Treo 650. If you're not happy with the A700, don't waste your $400.

The A700 has its share of problems indeed...

Click here (http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?p=445011) to see the bugs I have found. Hopefully a software fix will be issued someday.

My hope is they will patch the software to allow closed phone picture taking.

some of those things reallly bug me too and it sounds like ur leaning towards not likeing the phone... just think of whether the good outweighs the bad by ALOT, but if these things will continuously annoy u, then just return it and wait for the "next big thing"
U might b happy u did

26th of october?
and can i get the software fix if i already have the phone?

the display is so much better on the phone than any other phone i saw at sprint and the only bug being the no pics while closed for me, if they fixed that, thsi phone would OWN.

and the treo is HUGE WAY to huge for me

Also keep in mind that the Treo's display looks kind of crappy compared to that of the A700. I originally bout a Treo, but returned it and got the A700 because of the huge difference in the quality of the displays. If you otherwise like the Treo device, a new model - the 650 - will be coming out soon. The Treo 650 is supposed to have a nicer display and a 1 megapixel cam, among other enhancements.

 Hey Kev,

I am having trouble trying to find a java script enabled browser for my A700. Have you run into anything?

If you can live without a 1MP camera, I'd say go for the VM4050 by Toshiba. The camera is worse, but the screen is better!

The application "WebViewer" from ReqWireless.com is awesome. There are some bugs that need to be worked out in the A700 phone, but WebViewer is an awesome app. So is their EmailViewer.

Go to http://www.reqwireless.com from your PC for more info. Go to http://www.reqwireless.com/wap from your phone to download a free trial.

Anyone know about the sub lcd being fixed, or the camera thingy, manual says you can take pictures with phone closed, so it should be fixed. Also any new phones in the future that will have more memory, or removable SD card? I love the size and all the other features, or i would go buy, the I600, but no camera, and I dont like palm, so no Treo. 4050 blows video qualtiy, screen is not much different, same color depth. Whens Samsungs next phone going to be realsed, any idea of when a pohne with the features of a mm700 plus sd slot coming out?

*Camera is better on A700
*Video is better on A700
*Ringers are better on A700
*Exterior LCD is better on A700
*Voice dial is better on A700 (Voice Signal)
*Status LED is better on A700
*Better battery life on A700
*Includes the Sprint Multi-Media service

*Internal screen is better on Toshiba
*More coustomizable menu's on Toshiba
*Has a speaker phone

You can choose which one you'd rather have;)

Have you looked at the i600? It's a bit less buggy than the A700, has an expansion slot, has a speakerphone and is a flip. It doesn't have a camera though.

If you want MP, SD and a flip, the 5600 sounds like the next phone that will fit the bill.

manual says you can take pictures with phone closed, so it should be fixed. They changed the manual now so I think that probably means that they aren't planning on "fixing" the camera to work with the flip closed. From what I've read, Samsung originally wanted to allow the camera to work open or closed but Sprint requested from Samsung that the camera only work with the flip open.

You can find the new manual here:

Well, it also has...
-More Memory... WAY more memory
-Better incoming sound quality (just slightly)
-Better outgoing sound quality (in my mind, just slightly, but some say it has outgoing sound problems, which I have not witnessed.)
-No AIM problems
-No Yahoo IM problems
-No MSN IM problems
-Enough money saved to purchase the extended battery (which gives you about 6 hours talk time) , additionally, I found battery life to be similar between the two- due in part to the Toshiba's clever power saving options (controlling screen brightness, keypad backlighting, etc.)
-Better web browser on the Toshiba (sans cache limit)
-Ability to use camera when flip is closed
-Ability to close flip and not exit application (a pro or con- your choice)
-Ability to close flip after composing text message
-Ability to close flip after composing picture/video message
-Slightly smaller
-Better T9 implementation
-Expandable T9 for SMSing
-Better compatibility with Webviewer, Emailviewer

And While I'm at it, I will say that the camera is only better in the daytime. In low-light environments, they're the same- at best.

And the Screen on the Toshiba surpasses the Samsung in both Color Depth AND Resolution, although, to be fair, they both look really spectacular. The Toshiba also their own advanced Poly-Silicon LCD's which are more durable, energy efficient, and produce significantly higher refresh rates.

Makes it a little more obvious, dontcha think?

Both are god phones, but have good screens, both have good RF and earpeice quality, one has a better camera nd video record, and MM funtionality, hence a difference of $89

i don't use the msns/aim issues no moot there
the camera is betetr on the A700 in night time if you knwo how to use controls it is way better

the ONLY difference worth noting is that the toshiba has he ability to flip and snap
yet it has memory cashe issues while surfing(something i do a lot of) the external LCD on the A700 bl;ows the craptastic toshiba otu of the water, and the ONLY reaosn i want to take pics witht he screen closed is simply conviennce since the phone is awesome without it.

i seen the graphics on the toshiba...sorry quit trying to pimp the phone based on the screen alone, and frankly the screen is flacid IMO, and i seen it operate cstomized and everything.

memory you got a point, it has more......i have 10 mp3 ringers on my phone and 15 games......well if i need mroe than that i should prolly just buy a gameboy dual screen.

it is awesome phone, i even used the tosh for a while, i just don't dig it, thats a personal thing, you can compare stats all you want but it seems bulky to me and cumbersome...the A700 is almost the same size as my old 731 actally smaller so i like it.

with my bluetooth headset it rocks, so i enjoy the phone and think it was better than the toshiba 4050, and the stor reps at sprint are even telling customers the phone is getting no support and will eventually be phased out next rotation for the bigger better and same kind fo screen phones to come.

the a700?
brand new great sales, and a new firmware upgrade just released with more scheduled....yeah you weigh the options.

Someone wanted an option for a phone with a removable card/more memory (before the usual flame war erupted).
Lets not forget the LG535!
1.3MP camera, mini SD card, 320x240 screen, sliding formfactor...should be out in a month.
