My wife and I have the Sanyo 8100 phone and are very happy with it ... or at least forced to stay happy :eyeroll: until we are eligible to upgrade in 06/2005 when our contract is up.
However, my wife has a more on the road job now. I am wondering if any of you purchased/used the Hands Free Car Kit for the 8100. What does it exactly do? My wife used to have a Speaker phone with her old job but now has to use her personal cell phone. I am just wondering what are the pluses and minuses.
Is a better option to just upgrade her to the 8200? Will we be able to still use our old car chargers we have for the 8100s??? We like the fact we can still charge our phones whether riding in either one's car.
Any input? Thanks in advance... :)

it all depends on what type of hands free you buy. I've tried some that use the car radio only to find out that it does not work. In my opinion just get a ear type that plugs into the speaker outlet. this way you will have less to complain about in the future....................

Yes Chargers will work, The 8100 and 8200 use the same chargers. I perssonally don't mind the Speaker phone of the new sanyos, but i know alot of people who prefer their handsfree headsets.

Thank you both for your input. I will go with the earpiece thing only. I am so glad to hear it is the SAME car charger.
Is Sprint the only channel I can purchase a new phone if she decided to go that route? I am just wondering if it is safe to buy a new 8200 from other venues??? And if so... where?

bestbuy, radioshack, etc... just make sure the phone you buy is sprint branded or else they won't activate it on the sprint network

Costco is probably the safest bet in buying cellphones because of their killer return policy.

Costco offers a practically lifetime warranty. You can return or exchange for another phone, no questions asked. Also, their price is lower and they bundle in accessories with the phone (decent quality accessories like holsters and/or cases, earbuds and car chargers. Some phones had a second battery. These accessories are not junk accessories, mostly they are Sprint branded accessory packs).

We are Costco members and never knew this. I know their laptop and PC policy is awesome also. Makes you keep your membership.
Do they sell the phone without the plan agreement extensions though???
Regarding the reception... how much worse is the 8200? What is SMS???
