Well, I heard a lot of people saying that the earpieces sounded muffled. Mine sounds muffled on Level 2 and up. Level 1 is the only instance where it sounds decent. Why is it like this? Going from LV 1 to LV 2, there's a huge volume increase, including the muffled feedback...-_-

mine is fine on level 1, fine on level 2, fine on level 3, and gets more muffled as you go up to level 8, now, mines the VM4500, but its still sanyo and that damn earpiece.

it probably sounds muffled because you read about it. before you read about it, it was likely fine. it's all in your head. :hee:

you title makes it sounds like it wasn't muffled and now it is. it that the case?

That makes much more sense. The earpiece doesn't become muffled over time... you probably just read too many complains about it, and now you "hear" it as well. Purely psychological.

Meanwhile, the earpiece on my 8200 sounds fine... to me. But what I find funny, is online is the only place I hear about these supposed earpiece problems. In reality, no one has a single complaint.

Well, I guess I didn't notice it til now. I had my phone replaced with the same one, except everything is up-to-date on this new phone now. I can actually tell now.

if it BECAME MUFFLED after you got it, you might have blown the speaker due to high volume levels.

not to cut off your post, BUT, i believe the ringers play through the speaker on the back, so I doubt the speaker might have been blown...but I could be wrong

and to add to that, I dont get any customer's complaining about the earpiece here in my store, and I know that doesnt mean that NO ONE experiences that issue, but I think everyone should know that it is not a crappy earpiece by any means. There is a difference between the Sanyo and the Samsung and LG earpieces, that I know, but to simply pass judgement and preach it like its the word of God is ludircus (sp) at the least. What sounds horrible and muffled and such to you might sound perfect for the next person.

Well, I dunno. I find myself alternating between Lv 1 and Lv 2 volume settings constantly. Would it be worth it to buy a bluetooth headset for a non-bluetooth phone ?

Personally, I would say no. They're pretty expensive and you could save the money toward a new phone in the future. Just pick up an ear-bud somewhere if it bothers you that much.
