I have a Samsung a500 and I played around with the Test Mode Command, specifically command #053 (stby mode). It's my first time doing it and when I enter the Test Mode screen,I pressed 053.It then displayed
" stby battery 212"...here's the thing:
I didnt know how to exit..so I tried the first logical(or illogical) thing, which is to try each button. When I pressed the OK button, the screen says "saved setting"(I think this is where I screwed up). When I still couldnt exit the test mode screen,I took out the battery. Now...when I turn it on again...the phone somehow reads low batt.It display the wallpaper and I can still access the menu, but somehow it just read low batt at all times.( I tried it also with my 2 other new charged battery...but it display the same thing, so I'm sure it wasnt the battery).
The funny thing is when I called somebody...the battery will display full 3 bars.as soon as I finished the phone call and go to standby, the battery status will be empty again(and display Low Batt recharge sonn). Plus the phone was on for a full 2 days with the Low Batt warning.
I think I must have reset the setting at how the phone reads the battery life in standby mode or something...but then again..like I said I'm really new at all this stuff...so im not sure....
Anyone who experienced this before pls help me get out of this situation. Help is greatly appreciated.
Thanx

Well you are lucky that it just displays low battery. I know from previous reading their is also a setting that you change for the battery which will not let the phone power on again.

If I have it reflashed, I will lose all the d/l and phonebooks right?
I have invested around $50+ just for the d/l...so I only want it reflashed as a last resort...plus Sprint doesnt really like to deal with phones without any warranty(bought the phone off e-bay).
Anyway i'm still kinda hoping someone could help me out....but thanks guys for your input.

If it's truly stuck in 'test mode' there is a good chance, unless you can un-do what you did, the phone may say that all the time, even if the store reflashes / wipes it out.
(Not 100%, but there is a good chance of it).

Yeah, testmode is a pain in the ass to get rid of. I flashed an a600 stuck in testmode and it still was stuck in test mode after the reflash. Think of test mode as a computer bios and when the phone boots that is windows. When the stores reflash they are reflashing windows and not the bios. So, even with a reflash the phone may still have the test mode options in the phone. Many sprint stores will not know test mode codes and be able to undo what you have done to your phone. You may want to contact samsungs cell phone side and see what the proper parameter is for you phone that you have altered. They might not be able to help but it does not hurt to ask.

That's what i'm afraid of, that the tech didnt know what to do...but i'm not in a hurry to get it fixed, coz I have my 8100 that im using right now...Thanks again guys for the input...appreciate it.
Anyway,Deval, which part of NJ are you? where is your store? maybe I can go to here.

This is why some people should leave the "hidden" options alone on their phone.

And how is anyone going to learn anything by leaving things alone? ;-)

True but still. Ya get some "kids" on here that are like "OH WOW, A secret menu!" They go into it, don't know what their doing, phone stops working, then they want Sprint to fix it. ..... Not suggesting the OP is a kid, just an example!

Well, try this:
The code you entered is 053, which is for the Standby battery level. 200 should be the level at full charge.
Code 054 is the same thing for ht e Talk Battery level. Which also should be at 200 for a full charge.
Code 055 is for the WRBatt, or Warning Level Battery indicator, which warns you are a "percentage" when the battery is too low and needs to be recharged. (e.g., 200 is a full charge, so if you set this to 40 the phone will start warning you when the battery is 20% full)
Since its already screwed up, maybe go in, try to reset the value to 200, and see if it takes. Also try the 054 and 055 and set them as well.
At this point you almost have nothing to lose.
Good luck.

Do u know if this will work for sure? the thing is I can't even set the 053 nor 054...it wont let you edit the values, it just allow me to save the values...Do u know how to edit the values?
I'm worried to go to the WRBatt coz it might get the phone to not being able to power up....( I forgot where i read it,but this guy was also playing with 055.)...but alas, I will give it a try and see if it works...Thanx

Hei good news guys...it works...I just go back to the test mode and change the value of the WR Batt (#055) to 160 ( it can be any number other than the default value, which in my case is 214)
Thanx guys for all your help and Thanks Dcdave63 !
