I just purchased a FutureDial cable for my RL7300 from Radio Shack. Of course it didn't come with drivers. I downloaded the Sanyo USB drivers from http://www.futuredial.com/support/download/USB_Drivers.htm but the zip file only contained 3 files in each of 3 directories (xp, 2000, and 9x). They were all .inf driver files. No install files. When I plugged in the cable, XP asked me to provide the drivers for it, so I pointed to the dir I unzipped them to, but no luck.

So I next went to http://www.sprintpcsinfo.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=54 and downloaded the USB drivers lined to there (where link back to FutureDial's server). This driver package at least was complete, with a setup and everything. Problem is, the setup doesn't have the 7300 listed (which is odd as I linked to it from Sprint's 7300 page).

Is there a more up to date driver that I'm missing? Where can I get it? I don't want to have to buy any of FutureDial's software as I intend to use BitPim.

All you have to do is install Sprint PCS Connection Manager which installs the drivers for you since they are embeded.

Where do I get that software from? I searched on Sprint's site and the only PCS Connection Manager software I can find there seems to be for use with various connection cards. http://www4.sprint.com/pcsbusiness/support/downloads/index.jsp

Are you sure that's what I need for my phone? I've searched this site for "7300 USB" and "7300 BitPim" and everyone just talks about using FutureDial drivers. No one else seems to mention this software.

I'm getting confused here.

I'm thinking that maybe I should just return this cable back to Radio Shack and mail order one that comes with the drivers.

You can return yours to Radio Shack and order from us and save a ton of money. Yes, we include the drivers. But here you go anyway, it is the only one that says "for data cables" which is the correct one

Thanks. That seems to have done it as I can now communicate with my phone using BitPim :)

I had the VGA 1000 and connected for over a year. Some of my first posts here are about it. Time to upgrade the phone so I got the RL7300. I did not want a camera!

Now off to get the cable. I check an auction site and find a cable for a cheap price. Get the cable, it has no software. Check this thread, find the software (thank you!). trouble is the cable.

Funny enough, the phone charges when the cable is put in one way and connects online when the cable is flipped over. Weird. And it will not stay, I have to hold it in with my hand which makes for a tough time online. One little bump and my conection goes away.

Since 3G claims to carry the best in cell phone cables it has to be better than this one. Off to the online store!

We only carry OEM cables which are the best quality. OEM cables are not charging because there have been documented cases of people frying thier phones with charging cables. No OEM cable has the charging capability and for good reason.

I got my 3G cable today.

Holy cow.

This cable rocks! It has heft and bulk to it, it snaps in and connects with a solid click, the directions all worked the very first time. This was the easiest thing I ever got for my phone. 3G Cables rocks!

Now I need a T-shirt.
