I saw this addressed in another post, but no solution was mentioned. I bout a USB Data Cable off of ebay for my Sanyo 8100. When I plug it into Windows XP Pro SP2 I get the error:

USB Device Not Recognized
"One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."

Windows identifies it as an "Unknown Device."

When I go into the properties of this device, under device status it says:

"No drivers are installed for this device."

So I tried updating the drive manually by downloading the Sanyo drivers off of Futuredial's and Sanyo's websites. When I inlucde the location for XP to search that I unzipped the files in, I just get back the message:

"The wizard could not find a better match for your hardware than the software you currently have installed."

So, I am still unable to get my Sanyo 8100 connected. Do you think it is the cable, the phone, or am I doing something wrong?

Go back to the people that you bought it from. They will support you or you can return the cable.

Happened to me, but eventually it worked. I don't see how it could be the fault of the cable though.

In a stroke of genius, I solved my own problem. All I had to do was power cycle the phone and it worked.
