i searched quickly and found nothing.. i'm wondering about programs for playing videos on the treo 600 and possibly about a program to stream video like 1KTV or MobiTV for the treo.

free would be awesome, but i'll pay a little if i have to.. my ultimate goal would be to compress a few dvds so i can take 1 or 2 at a time on my 512mb cards on trips with me.. not sure if the treo processor could handle that though.

Not sure about your question. But can you even compress a DVD to fit on a 512MB card and still be worth watching (Video Quality Wise) ?

Take a look at Pocket DVD Studio. It's not cheap, but it's the easiest solution for converting DVD to Palm. It reduces the resolution in order to reduce file size. Beware that 160x160 resolution and small physical size of the screen is not ideal.

Another app is MMplayer, but you need to manually rip the DVD to mpeg4 or avi.

EDIT: You can probably fit two feature length movies on one 512MB card at the optimum resolution for the Treo.

not sure if the treo processor could handle that though.I play 15fps videos on my Handspring Prism, and it only has a 33mhz processor.

I either want to stream video and audio to it, or use a Tivo-like device to record TV and store it on a 512 card, to take with me.....can you say Daily Show on demand???? ;)

ripping the dvd isn't my issue.. i can do that..

i just want to know the good programs to play it on the treo.. i played with MMplayer for a few minutes but wasn't real impressed.. i guess i can look at it again?

mmplayer is the best movie player on the 600 in my humble opinion.

ok, looks like if you get the newer version it likes the treo better :)
