View Full Version : Grading members on good posts

I recently noticed on another forum that they have a system where you can grade forum members on their posts. If they leave a good post, they get 1 point, if it's a bad post the loose a point. These grades are given to you by other forum members. That number is then carried around by you and seen by other forum members. You can then tell before reading a members post if that person leaves messages worth reading. Good posters would have a high number, and bad posters would carry around a bad number.

The forum I saw it used at was for www.redvsblue.com (http://www.redvsblue.com) but I think you have to be a member to even look at it.

My Questions:
Can this be programmed into SprintUsers?

Has anyone else seen it and is it any good?

It can be good, but it can also be a tool people use just to give bad ratings to someone they don't like.

That's why we don't use that system here. I tend to also think that it just becomes a popularity contest.

The feature is called "reputation" but we don't use it here.

Alright, answers! Thanks! I guess this can be deleted unless someone else wants to... comment on... um... if they like it or not.

I thought it was a cool feature. Of course there would have to be restrictions so people can't cheat. I'll keep my eyes on that other forum and see if it works.

...one eye, and only ocasionally... my loyalty lies here of course.

a system like that is opinion based and personally i think there are far too many different opinions here...if anything i think we need more moderators here...and not just any mods, people that actually post, share, and contribute(not just monetarily) to the site not some lame duck that sits around and reads opinions of other website forums. thats just my opinion and i could be wrong.

Is the number of posts a user has posted really relivant to anything anyway ?

It's just so that we'll still know which one deval is if in the event we can't read each others user names. :)

I remember telling that guy to knock off his crappy posting that had nothing to do with the topic when he was around 900 posts...now hes at like a billion...don't know if hes changed or not

I for one could care less about post count, I think its stupid

Hola

yeah, someone like me doesn't post much because i had having posts with spelling mistakes.

But I think if anyone has been a member for a while, you know which people post things worth reading and which ones waste time. without naming any names, it would only be more of an attack more than anything.

I don't know about you guys but I don't want to be rated on my stupid, random, off topic yet sarcastic posts. If there was a way to keep it strictly rate me on good posts that aren't blatently (sp?) sarcastic then sure lets go for it.... but since that's not going to be hapening then we should just stick to what there is now.

On a side note this post is really on the line for normal/sarcastic... :D
