Folks,
Like I said in a previous post, I've been looking getting a Treo 600, but was wondering what people (Sprint people in particular) think about just waiting for the Treo 650. Is there a benefit to waiting other than the headphone jack? Does anyone REALLY know when they are releasing it?
Thanks,
Jon

palmOne Treo 650
Now you can use just one device—instead of many—to get it all done. The Treo 650 is an update to the successful Treo 600 Phone from HandSpring. The 610 will include BlueTooth, Hi-Res Screen and greater amount of memory than the Treo 600.
The Treo 650 will include all the original features of the Treo 600. It will seamlessly combine a full-featured mobile phone and Palm OS organizer with wireless applications like email, text messaging, web browsing and even a digital camera. And you get it all in one device that's so small it fits right in your pocket.

But how is that different from what I would get with the Treo 600.

Higer res screen, blue tooth, higher MP cam (supposedly), dedicated buttons, faster processor. More or less it.
If those features arent important to you, save your money and get a 600. Aside from the above they are the same...more or less.

Yep yep, exactly... Plus the 600 should drop in price? When the 650 comes out (I read today Around the first week in Nov.)

It has non-volatile memory as well. The improved camera is not certain at this point.

I would get the 650 if I really wanted Bluetooth. But since I could care less about BT right now i'm going to stick with the 600. If you do decide on the 600, wait until the 650 comes out to get it cheaper. I read somewhere that it is going to drop to $399.
i'm sure you cant go wrong with which ever one you choose.

Yeah, high res is a must. . . there is a lot of good software that can't run on the 600 because of that stupid 160x160 screen.

By any chance, will the Treo 650 be tri-mode (i.e., including analog)? I simply cannot recommend any cell phone or PDAphone to my friends (who do solicit my opinion) that doesn't have analog fallback capability. Analog is still the only cellular signal in many rural areas, and I don't believe in cell phones that will fail just when you need them most (when your car breaks down in the middle of nowhere).
The only PDAphones I know that have analog capability are the Samsung i500 and older i330. (I don't count the ancient Kyocera QCP-6035.)

Engadget is reporting an October 25th release date for the Treo 650. The article goes on the mention that this could purely be an announcement with the Treo 650 not actually being available until sometime after that date. Either way, it appears we are getting closer to the release date. To see more new photos of the Treo 650 for Sprint here and discuss the release in the forums. UPDATE: CNET is also reporting an October 25th launch date.

Analog is being phased out (supposed to be around 2007) and most of the Digital Roaming available from Verizon covers those areas. How many times have you actually been stuck in the middle of nowhere anyway? If you are so worried about it then just keep an older SPCS phone in your glove compartment and use it to dial 9-1-1. I just think that its silly that people dont buy devices b/c they are worried about something that they probably will never use anyway

I got the 600 right now, and it is great. We will be getting the 650 as soon as it is available at the same price we got the 600 for, so it will be an even swap.
When I signed up with Sprint I asked for the 650, it was obviously not available yet, so they got me the 600, and promised me to get my money back, when I got the 650.
It turns out that Sprint will offer the 650 at the same price at which they sell the 600 today, hence the even swap.
I really want the 650 over the 600, because of the better screen, faster processor and Bluetooth.
