LED's dont come in various sizes for keypads fyi. the actual board does, but thats obvious, the LED's remain the same size.

JoMamma,
well, i've actually used 3 different sized surface mount LEDs. 0603 is the smallest, it's what i use on the sanyo's. The next size up is the 0805, i use ta use these on the old nokia keypads. And the largest size i've ever used was 1206, and i used those on old nokia non-colored LCD displays. So there are different size LEDs, from my hands on experience.

culpthug,
i use 0603 LEDs. I can sell you LEDs if you want, pm me.

Just exactly how small are the soldering points and how many of them are there? Would they be pretty hard to get to with an exceptionally small soldering tip? Do you need tweezers or something? I think it might be fun and rewarding to solder up your own leds. :)

Yi Chen - Do you only do Sprint phones?

chenyichung

KennyD,

the soldering pads on the PCB are about 1mm x 1mm. There are two pads per LED, pos. and neg. The LEDs aren't much bigger than the pads, maybe 2mm x 3mm. you need the smallest tipped soldering iron from radio shack, and very still hands.

chryslerfan,

i can do any phone, as long as i can get the phone open, soldering is all the same. I can pretty much do any nokia, as they are the easiest to open, i can do all sanyos, would like to do samsungs, but no one will let their samsung be a test, i just gotta figure out how ta open it up, after that, gimme 30 min. and you'll have some hot ***** LEDs on your keypad :)

Hell yea!!!! And its 30 times better than Sprints current offering. A no-bit 1" rectangular LED display, super long battery life(20mins), nice retro, scratchy analog sound and last but not least: The looks you get from carrying around such a Blingy item! The only thing needed would be some new, colorful LED's! :hee:

$45, that includes the LEDs, the conversion service, and USPS express shipping back to you. turn around time is 3 days, but you have to ship it to me using USPS express next day air.
