After using the Sanyo 7300, I just can't get use to it in my hands. My new Nextel is a i305 (Navy got us new Nextels! No more bricks) Bar style like my old Nextel. Thats why I went with the RL 2000 the first time. It filled my hand better. I have always had bar style phones before anyway.
Don't get me wrong, the 7300 is a great phone. I dont think its for me after using it. One of the guys said he would buy it from me. I have the body glove case and cig cord for it and the phone is still in perfext shape. I figured around $200 and that would cover a RL 4920.
I heard you can find new RL 2000's sometimes on eBay, or should I just get the RL 4920.
So Im asking the experts, your thoughts?
Thanks, NavyCop

The RL4920 is about half the height of the RL2000...I suspect it, too, will feel funny in your hands. But, it's tri-mode, unlike the RL2000, so I dunno. The 4920 has gotten some great reviews and I think it's a cool little phone. Same great reception and battery life in a bit of a smaller package. Plus faster menus and Vision and real SMS, if you want that.
Perhaps you should go and play with one in person...I'm not sure if the size will be suitable if you liked the way the RL2000 felt.

I've had most of the Sprint phones over the going on 6 years with PCS and the 4920 is by FIRST candy bar style phone, I'll never go back to flips and the 4920 is fantastic. I still have my Samsung I500 but in the drawer. It's quite a change from a phone/pda.
Does it all and really great price. I can't find anything I don't like about it and I'm hard to please with electonics as I am an engineer and amature radio license holder. You'll like it!

Yes! I also have the Nokia 6225 for my wife, she loves it and uses it quite a bit for taking pictures. We also like the other features including SMS, Speaker phone and it's great on reception inside our house in the country, surrounded by large trees. The Sanyo 4920 is just as good on reception.
And she likes its small form factor as well.

I can't have a camera phone on Base.
i understand the logic of this, but how do they enforce it? do they check every cell they see to determine if it has a camera?

(even though he can't have a camera phone) The battery life on the 4920 last about 4 times longer than the Nokia :eyeroll:

Not for Military personel, but we do check phones of civilians and contractors coming on base. At the gate, we have internet connection and have phonescoop.com for a reference.
At high security area's, no phones are permitted past the checkpoint.

so military personnel are expected to police themselves so to speak (and of course, grave consequences if they are caught doing otherwise)?

I stopped and checked out the new Nokia. I don't like the small Talk and End buttons so close to the above menu buttons. I kept hitting the buttons at the same time.
I do like the idea of the battery life of the 4920.

It was never like this till camera phones came out.
