Im so happy! I got the VM4500! I love it! Its kinda hard to figure out at first but its pretty cool! The menus kinda plain, but hey, im ok with that. The camera works great for me. The speakerphone works excellent. I forgot bout it being half duplex, so as i was talking to my mom, i was like yelling at her and i realized ishe couldnt hear me. haha. over all i give it a 9/10 because the camera could be better, the menus could be a little better, and the speakerphone is only half-duplex. But i love my baby! my mom got a A680 and she doesnt know how to use it much so i had and have to show her. haha. well just wanted to say that. a little pointless but hey, im 14 and i got a new 350 dollar phone. well talk to yall later! oh as soon as i get vision working (prolly tomorrow) i will upload some pics!

I had the same problem with my charger port. I blame it on that stupid standard pin charger. I got it replaced and only use the flat sanyo charger now.

I've had mine for a month and I like the speakerphone but I have issues with it. For one the button is flush so it's hard to feel for it. It needs a nipple or something. I press and hold it, and sometimes it does nothing. Or it redials the last number I called. Or it correctly goes to voice dial mode. When I do connect, the other person can't hear me at all. I know it's half duplex, but even when I wait for the to stop talking it seems I've put them on mute.

its called crappy quality.i guess thats what $400 gets u these days. i shouldnt have "universal charging port" problems before i have a scratch on my case. jomamma save youself the hassle early and see if they let u switch ur charger for a flat one. its an awesome phone with a major flaw. right now i got two batteries, no power in either one and a vein the size of licorice rope bulgin from my neck tryin to get it to charge.if not for my wonderful g1000 i would have broken my 4500 by now

I personally am a fan of having the universal charging port on there, but then again I've never had problems with it. It's just so much nicer that when you switch phones, you don't have to buy a new car charger and stuff like that.

i haven't had problems of that matter, and hopefully will not, cuz i gave my old sanyo 5300 and (naturally) it's flat charger to a friend...

ok, whats the difference between the flat charger and the universal charger? the charger i got its a small little cylindar thingy, and the plug for it is VERY thin. i would post a pic, but my vision isnt working yet.

The flat charger plugs into the other port (data), next to the universal charging port. (I think that's how it is on the 5500)

ooooh. i get it. so the flat charger is better? where can i get one of these? and why is it better? what happens to the universal port that makes it bad?

The pin inside tends to bend, break or become loose after a certain period of time, so people say. I say, just treat it like a $300 or $400 phone, and no one will have this problem. :hee: (No offense to anybody, but some are very careless.)

JoMamma

haha. yes i will be treating it like a 400$ phone, because since my mom doesnt have alot of money, and she never was married, its single income, and its not that easy to get this thing replaced, luckily tho i DO have insurance.

just go to ebay and bid for the old 8100 travel charger. it works with most of all of sanyo's phones.

I don't know why everyone is making such a commotion about this...The universal charger works fine on my A620...All Sanyo and Samsung's ship with it...

There is nothing wrong with it...

Just because yours works dont mean it aint a problem. Its just not a problem for you. But when it becomes one then maybe you will see what all the fuss is about. If you never get to experience the joy that were haveing then consider your self very very lucky. And were really not talking about the a620. i have had many MANY other phones without this problem. Im just a little peeved that there is a problem. By the way i see that you have a flat charger...

I hear what your sayin but it has become a running gag in my life how i treat my phones better than myself and my car. Sprint addressed it as normal wear and tear. There obviously are things that you can do to speed up the process of the deterioration of your phone but this generally aint one of those things. I dont even move my phone when its charging to wiggle it loose or nothin like that. Its just how it is. i never dropped this one or anything.

You can actually go to a sprint store and tell them the bad things that you been hearing and see if they will let you switch chargers. They may not actually switch unless there is a problem though. If you dont have a problem then i wouldnt suggest wasting your money

I know what you're talking about with the running gag, same situation with me. When I took mine to the Sprint store though, they told me that it wasn't covered under normal wear and tear, that somehow I messed up the charger port. I got it replaced under best buy's replacement plan, and now use a flat charger. If I have any future sanyo phones I'll be using the flat charger for them, I prefer it over the standard one.

A word of caution here - Many eBay chargers have a tendency to shorten battery life and they can short out very quickly. Their circuit protection is not always as good as they boast it to be. If you can afford it, I would stick with OEM or Belkin chargers - or even the Sanyo line of chargers from Target. The shack has some decent chargers too. There are some good eBay chargers out there but it's a crap shoot in my opinion (and experience!) In the long run, it's only a few bucks more for a decent charger that won't fry your phone or battery. Most of the ebay car/travel chargers are $1-$5 with $6 shipping and upwards.

just go to ebay and bid for the old 8100 travel charger. it works with most of all of sanyo's phones.
