Hey all, was hopin to get some info and a possible solution to my problem. I bought the sanyo 8200 from costco a few weeks back and it seems to be a great phone other than one problem. It will automatically disconnect every time I hit the 2 hour mark in a call. It doesn't seem to matter whether I have the charger plugged in after the low battery beep or have it plugged in throughout the whole call, it never fails to hang up and I get the evil sprint lady. I know battery lilfe varies but it is plugged into the charger, this is drivin me nuts. Any ideas? I've gone through the manual and pretty much looked through all the settings in the phone to no avail.. Any ideas??

Thanks

I looked up some of the information and I don't see that as a problem that phone has.

THe only thing I can think of is that it shut down because it was running hot at that point. Was the battery really hot or anything like that?

I don't see any other logical thing that could cause that.

Thanks for the reply, kp. The phone/battery is not hot at all. I can call back immediately and talk for another 2 hours straight and it will then do the same thing again. It's very bizarre. This has happened everytime i've had a prolonged conversation thus far (7 or 8 times), it's very frustrating.

Thanks

I hate to tell you this but I am at a loss for why this is happening. I haven't found anything in my resources to show that this is a problem. I would take it into a store and explain the problem and see what they can do for you. Possibly exchange it out. If it was a common problem or even an issue that has been reported a handful of times I would have seen something on it.

I have an 8200 but don't know anyone interesting enough to carry a two hour phone conversation with! :(

That's what I was wondering.... how do you stay on the phone for 2 hours?!?!

Anyway, this sounds like a network problem more than a phone problem. Does anyone know if there's a phone conversation limit that Sprint places? Maybe just in your area?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (MobilePhone PM-8200/US/1.0) NetFront/3.1 MMP/2.0)

I know i have never seen this problem on my 8200 when I have talked for over 2 hours.

Costco has a lifetime return policy ... they should give you a new one

I have had numerous lengthy conversations and have never had this problem. And I am on my second 8200. You said the evil sprint lady comes on, what does she say?

That's what i'm thinking, they are great about returns/exchanges so i'm just gonna swap it out when I get a chance.

I figured this would actually be a somewhat common problem as it didn't happen just once as a fluke, it's a consistent problem. Ahhh well, that's my luck.

Thanks everyone!

"Your call can not be completed as dialed" and then it disconnects the call.

Never seen that before, but it sounds more of a network issue, maybe a limiter built into your area due to other people doing extended 'call times' for non-voice purposes...

Sorry I couldn't stop laughing on this one. So after 2 hours of continuous talking the phone drops the call, and it drives you nuts to hit the redial and connect again after two hours? This 8200 is a little cutie, you need to give this puppy a bit of rest too... :D

Just a thought:
There is a possibility that the disconnect could well be from the other end. Just as a test, try calling your land line from your cell phone and leave it till two hours, and close to the two hours mark stay with the phone and see if it gets disconnected or not? This can narrow your problem down.

One of the folks mentioned lifetime return policy of costco. Does that come automatically with the electronics/cell phones purchase OR you have to buy some additional plan with it?

that is Costco's policy, not an add-on warranty...it is a free exchange/return as long as you have the original packaging and accessories...you could come back to them in 2 years if you have a problem and it would not change anything...they have a no questions asked policy...

Thanks for a quick response on this. This is something nice to hear, I am already happy to be a member of costco now. There is a lot of great stuff in there..
