ok im about to cancel my sprint vision because the 2 month free trial will be up (i get unlimited text messaging)
i have a website where i create my own ringtones from my computer's music files and send it to my phone. and its a link. now i hear that i can still use web after i cancel vision but ill just be charged per kilobyte when i download things
will i be chaged per kilobyte when i download ringers from this site? because the site is free....
my information has told me u only pay per kilobytes when u download from the sprint download thing in ur phone, if u download from a free site, then its free. correct?

The site is free the downloads are free the data you use when send the ringers to your phone or go online to retrieve them is not if you dont have the vision service....so you will have the per kb charge on each download or ringer

Your minutes will not be charged.
You will be charged a penny per kilobyte for ALL DATA USAGE, whether the site is free or not.

DUH!
When you access the web, data is transferred. That means when you log on to check mail, check movie times, sports scores...whatever.... you are transferring data and you WILL BE CHARGED.

Do you read any of the brochures or the Sprint site at all? All of the information is in there.

You might as well keep the Vision......dispite what you say, sounds like you'll be racking up a lot of charges anyway.

Sprint doesn't care what it is youre transfering to your phone, ringers, image, sports scores, movei times, email, etc. Bits are bits. If you surf the web, you're receving data. Downloading isn't just "downloading a ringer", its any transfering of data over thier Vision service. So basically, unless you're transfering data over a cable (which you can by for $50) you are going to be charged for transmitting those bytes. If you are interested in still having access to your email, sports, etc, you might wanna keep the Vision service, it might end up being cheaper in the end.

I know we're all supposed to be polite and helpful and all that cheerful stuff but why do we keep responding to this guys questions?? Same questions, over and over..damn. Maybe if we stop answering his questions he'll have to either search to find what he wants to know or maybe he'll seek out answers somewhere else like hat's site or hofo where I'm sure he'll be met with open arms. Just ignore him and maybe he'll go away.

The thing is Andy Candy, you're not looking for help. You are asking for it. If you looked, you would find it. People are pissed because of all the other people that asked the question before you did. These questions have already been answered before and it gets frustrating when all these lazy people want others to do the hard work for them so they can get free stuff, have a problem fixed, or read the instruction manual for them. So we're not getting pissed at you, we're getting pissed at the person that asked your question before you did... and the person before that... and the person before that...

IF you have a problem with the way someone is posting, report the post. Firing back at them disrespects our guidelines. If this continues to happen, those users will lose their posting access.
andyACEcandy, try some simple searches before posting. If you get flamed, you know how to report the message. Other users... if he asks a question and you don't want to help him by providing the answer or some search keywords, then please move on to another thread.

Here you go :)
1 KB = 1 Cent (.01)
100 KB = 1 Dollar (1.00)
=====================
Google Main Page = 2.43 KB
Microsoft Main Page = 13.8 KB
Yahoo Main Page = 59.9 KB
ABCNEWS Main Page = 49.3 KB
MovieTickets Main Page = 33.7 KB
Say you visited each site once a day for a month (And ONLY these site's main page, not any pages linked inside the main page, regardless of displayability these KB factors all include images)
That equates to 159.13 a day, for a total of $ 1.59 a day and ...............
$ 47.73 for a month!!!!
Ok that's a bit extreme since most of what you see is text, but let's look at this equation. I made a notepad file with nothing but text, a non-maximized window full of text and saved it as an HTML file (A Web page basically) The size of this file was 3.23 KB. Let's say you visit about 10 pages a day for new's or whatever.
That is 32.3 KB A day, and that does not include as outlined in the sprint manual (Retransmission of packet's that failed delivery) So let's add that overhead to the size just to make thing's easier and fair.
40 KB a day. Take that number * 30 and you have ...................
$ 12.00 A month. But that is for some VERY small surfing habits and includes absolutely NO downloading. Either way, unless your surfing habit mimic's that of a 3 year old's accidental sending of requests for sites like google.com, you will come back with a high bill anyway, so you may as well pay the $ 15 and get PCS Vision.

Sure did :). I signed up with sprint yesterday. I got the 2 year service agreement plus 30 additional dollars for the VI 660 phone. If nothing else in a manual, definitely read the term's and usage, the "fine print" and check the internet for this information as well, I look to the manual to find features only AFTER I try finding them on the phone myself, that's the fun of it! If that fail's I search the internet for similiar issues and lastly consult the community myself.
It's far more fun to contribute than to get help. And answers are surprisingly easy to get off of google.com searches as long as you form your queries properly. Later!
