On my plan I get 100 Text messages for each phone. I know that if I send a text message that counts against the 100 total. If I sign up on Yahoo for e-mail alerts or weather alerts, etc., do these alerts count against the 100 text total when i receive them? I don't want to go over the 100 limit and pay .10 cents for each alert that I get.

Does anyone get the alerts and figured out if they count against the 100 text message total?

Thanks,
AL in CAL

Yes, anything that comes in your inbox is a 'text message' sprint has no way of telling who, or where it came from.. and if they do it doesn't matter..

Do you have vision with your phones? If so you can get unlimited text messaging for only $5 more a month. Well worth it in my book so you don't have to stress about how many you use.

I tried making that point to one of my customers a couple weeks ago.

A few days ago, he came in with a huge bill. $40.20 in text messaging overage. And he said he would never use it... :)

I don't do that much actual Texting but do want to get alerts for certain e-mails, weather, traffic sites, etc. I guess I'll pay the $5.00 so I don't have to worry about it and I can get as many alerts as I want then.

Thanks for your help.

CONSERVATIVE guestimate... 5 e-mail alerts/day, 2 weather updates (10-15 if you live here in America's newest Tornado Alley, Richmond VA), and a couple traffic alerts... that's almost 300 text messages each month. 200 over your limit, at a cost of $20...

I hold occasional short AIM conversations, get all those wather bulletins each day, along with a dozen or so e-mail notifications, and blow through over a thousand text messages each month...
