if you like LG phones that much, maybe you would be better off at VZ? I am not personally impressed by LG. They make good CD Writers, though.

Darkflight's rule of thumb:

Nothing ever gets released on a date of first of the month.
(This applies to Video games, movies and phones. *)

*Exception is only on when 1st of month that falls on a Tuesday or Wednesday

ugh... late october?? geez, this phone was suppose to be here last month... then they pushed it to oct 1st.... now the end?? ugh... now i have to decide... do i stick with sprit which i like, or go to verizon because they have the phone that i like (need, want... ? ).

Mule Doe
10-01-2004, 11:07 AM
yeah more near the end cause he just got it 2 days ago and its a tester phone and not all the bugs are worked out, he has to return it in a week or 2 i think for the reports on any bugs

a whole month?!? OMG!

seriously, why would you change carriers for a phone anyway...and a crippled bluetooth phone at that?

abendx
10-01-2004, 11:16 AM
crippled?? ummmm, ok. i assume you have a t608... buggy and SLOW (i have had a se phone before and their menu speed is geriatric!!) from what i gather... and no sms??

yes... a month is a while... i have been waiting for this or another bluetooth phone.... like i said, i have my needs!! :)

As of Oct. 1st the G1000 was discontinued at www.sprintpcs.com product page! A lil observation.

the reviews of the v710 at phonescoop make it sound like a pretty bad phone overall. horrendous battery life, bluetooth can only be used for a headset, and a few other annoyances.

crippled?? ummmm, ok. i assume you have a t608... buggy from what i gather... and no sms??

assuming is dangerous..and often makes you incorrect. which you are.

you do understand that the verizon 710 cannot sync with outlook, transfer files or use a handsfree profile right?

yes... a month is a while... i have been waiting for this or another bluetooth phone.... like i said, i have my needs!! :)

if you needs are headset only, go for it. who knows if the LG will be any better, but at least you know what you'll be getting (and not getting) with verizon

my 'needs' are to work with my new car. yes.... it is a need. ;)

supposedly, they have a firmware upgrade in the works to open up some of the v710's bluetooth shortcommings.

sounds like waiting a month to see if the LG can do this out of the box would be worthwhile then

Well, when phones start to disappear at the product page, then newer phones will appear in time! Like the treo 650 may appear..... next? This tidbit was from www.treocentral.com (credit given)

reports are that the LG is crippled too... to what degree i am not sure. i would assume (yes, we don't like that word), that the shortcommings are similar to teh v710's... or at least that is what i have been reading..... can we get a confirmation from the guy that has one to beta??

i've heard, only from reading on here, that the handsfree profile would be intact. not sure about data and syncing though

I just signed a contract with Cingular for this (http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=408) phone, released today. Essentially a combination of the LG325 and LG 535 plus speakerphone. Been a Sprint PCS customer for 6 years.

Chris, no offense, but you been smokin that **** in your avatar man. Hope you are happy with Cingular.

no matter how much Cingular may or may not suck, that phone looks awesome. and the reviews have been fantastic.

To the OP: Patience my young Padawan learner.
(Yeah, we've been watching Star Wars on DVD, sorry.)

For a much better price ($250 w/o contract, $100 with one ... try and get the V710 for that price as a new customer), I'm sure the LG 325 will be worth the wait, especially if you only plan to use it in your car. It's a few weeks. It seems to be in final testing given that someone knows someone who has it because he's on the Beta Team.

It probably isn't some big bulky phone with crappy battery life. What's a few weeks if you've already waited months?

question: do i understand correctly that Sprint won't activate a BlueTooth phone on a unlimited vision plan? That you have to pay per KB on those phones? Or is this not true?

Mule Doe
10-01-2004, 09:24 PM
its an ok phone i got to play on it and **** like that .. its pretty cool. I saw a picture of it on a site that look nothing like it so some pics roaming the net are prolly not them, the color was lot diffrent and the buttons didnt look the same either.

rumor around work as well, it 3 weeks, and it also will come with a bluetooth headset like the jabra one, but smaller.

abendx
10-01-2004, 09:32 PM
mule doe. do you think what he has is the final version? also, is the bluetooth crippled at all?? does it sync the address book, transfer files (pics, ringers, mp3s, etc)???

any info would be great!!

Marlon_JB2
10-01-2004, 09:43 PM
Rumor has it that the BlueTooth is slightly crippled (No OBEX profile). There will be no syncing of address books and no file transfers. Other than that, everything else will work.

abendx
10-01-2004, 09:48 PM
so.... rumor has it that the phone will be crippled in the same way as the moto v710.... but if mule doe could confirm, that would be great.

But so the phone can provide Internet connectivity to a computer or PDA via Bluetooth?

i havnt got to test it out, but he said the phone works very well. and he is a cell freak, he stated that he would buy 1. As far as pic, i am not allowed to take any. It will have a camera though

Mule Doe
10-01-2004, 10:58 PM
yes u can use it via laptop but no with the vision package deal, thats almost like using a data link cable. I think they are gonna have its own plan or something, i am not even sure on it.

HOLY SMOKES BATMAN!!!!

i couldn't wait and switched..... i bought the v710, got a verizon plan to test.... i had the port request in to verizon within hours..... between this new phone that absoutly ROCKS!! and a WAY better service (coverage and RF wise)..... i can only be happy to say that the extra expense, the early termination fee, etc are 100% worth it!!

the bluetooth, although crippled is killer..... it works great in my car andi could not be happier!!

thanks mule doe..... makes me 100% happier that i did not wait and went with verizon and the v710..... the phone may be somewhat crippled, but it has a handsfree profile (car), headset profile, and a DUN profile (to connect to the lappy for inet access). they promise in the firmware next month to open address book and calendar synchronization.

don't get me wrong, i liked sprint on a lot of levels... but now i have a phone that does what i want and a better signal grabber :)

Mule Doe
10-06-2004, 08:54 PM
